Why did the choose the put a skin over Pleo? I mean a soild rubber skin? Why some sort of rubber coated, painted on skin? Would have looked more real?

Also why not make skins you can replace your self?

After all they can rubber coat things, so why not some rubber coating, rather then a soild rubber skin?

Have you seen a naked pleo?  They have a lot of moving parts and the neck and tail are very skeletal so I don't think they would be able to just spray on a rubber coating.  I'm no expert though.  If it helps here is a pic of Scully Crewella naked pleo for you to see.

I think they opted for the solid rubber skin to give pleo a more friendly shape.

Rubber was the most flexible and stretch resistant composition available.

The rubber skin also forms part of the structure - it supports the limbs, neck and tail and gives balance/resistance to the springs in the lower legs.
