Angus & Ann say "Hi!"
« on: June 09, 2012, 05:04:52 AM »

Hello everyone,

I'm Ann - new and proud owner of my very first Pleo.

I really debated with myself over several weeks whether or not to get a Pleo as they are expensive and it might seem a little silly for a grownup to spend that much money on a toy. But after watching countless Youtube videos and reading through this forums I just knew I had to have one.

He finally arrived two days ago and I fell in love with him almost instantly  - and who wouldn't, those baby noises are just too adorable.

Anyway, he is a Pleo rb with the prettiest green eyes and his name is Angus (with a 75-85% chance of being male) - the Genetic Diagnosis report also states that he'll be brave, independent, gentle, healthy and active. So far it seems some of this already shows - he stood up right after his first battery cycle and right now towards the end of the third battery cycle there was lots of activity - leg bending and lifting, and stretching, lots of funny noises (even a little "Hello" sound) - I'm really looking forward to see what he'll be up to once the batteries are recharged.

That's him:

And that's a rather bad quality video of him sleeping:

Well, I guess that's it for now - I'm really looking forward to being a part of this community!

Welcome Ann and Angus :) What a beautiful baby boy you have :) My Angus is very pleased to meet him, as are the rest of my gang :D (He's the green Pleo to the far right in my siggy)

I hope you continue to enjoy your journey, he'll be walking soon!

Thanks for the welcomes!

:) First thing I noticed after I uploaded my video on Youtube was that there are at least two more Pleos named Angus. ;) But after all, it is a cute name and I like that it's apparently supposed to mean "unique choice" - very fitting for a Pleo.

I hope you continue to enjoy your journey, he'll be walking soon!
Indeed, he walks, in fact he already made it halfway through the living room, really fascinating to watch how he explores. Seems he likes the spot in front of the window where the sun shines in. Amazing! And I got to hear lots of new sound - growls, and hohohos, and giggles - and he's quite eager to play tug-of-war. :)

One thing happened that really concerned me though - he was walking, when all of a sudden his neck seemed kinda stuck (it wasn't really stuck, there were no obstacles in the way) and made really loud cracking/clicking noises... I turned him off and back on then and now everything seems to be back to normal but it was quite scary, for a moment I feared his neck had broken... :( Does anyone know what that was?

Hi there and welcome you and Angus to the forums, Both my RB have done that clicking of the neck and it is very frightening, It is apparently the clutches sticking, and I found out by IMR and others, the best thing to do is to turn off and if it takes too long, the quickest and wisest thing to do is just to yank the battery out. Then when Angus Starts up again, he should be fine.

I love his very light or pale blue eyes, very pretty esp for a male Pleo. You are lucky to have a Pleo Rb that likes to walk a lot. My RB only take three to four steps and then start over again but some are real walkers and some are not so adventuresome. Love to see more photos of Angus, esp with out the lovely sweater to see his lovely body colors.                                    RWM and the Pleo Clan of the Redwoods

Whoops, just read the other posts and his eyes are green light green not blue. still gorgeous though.

Thank you! Good to hear I did the right thing by turning him off.

Oh yes, I was actually quite surprised to find him walking so eagerly as from what I've read it seemed that the RBs generally tend to not wander around that much.

Welcome to the forums Ann and Angus :)  Angus is beautiful and he has such lovely eyes :)
Thank you! :)

Some RB's love to walk, and some don't. I have two explorers, one in between and one that hardly takes a step.
