First of all, hi to every one!

I'm french, so please forgive me if my english speaking is not easy to understand.

I have just adopted a Pleo RB...He/She (65-75% she) has no name at this time, He/She in socialized age.

Yesterday, i've registered my Pleo RB on Pleoworld, and i've seen that there was some really recent firmware updates:

PLEO rb firmware update V1-1 (male)
Firmware Version: V1-1 (male) Date: 2012-02-07

PLEO rb firmware update V1-1 (female)
Firmware Version: V1-1 (female) Date: 2012-02-07

PLEO rb low level code update V1-0
Code Version: V1-0 Date: 2012-02-07

On my Pleo RB profile, it seems that my Pleo RB is "born" the 2011/08/26.

Do i need to update my Pleo RB? And do you know which update should i choose (He/She is a green Pleo, not Blue, not Pink...but mostly a female iin becoming)

Hi, and welcome. 

That does look like it might be an amended update ....... but I'll leave it to someone that's tried them to confirm.  There will be one for male RBs and one for female - AFAIK the genders will mostly affect the way your RB interacts with another RB and the tone of voice (slightly).

I don't see any need to update, especially with such a new PleoRB.

This update has a few minor tweeks to some of the skits.
You can update if you like, and pick either gender.
If you have two or more PleoRBs they will interact in gender specific ways. When used alone, the sounds will be different (males have a slightly lower pitch)

The "low level code update" looks interesting. There are signs of a new version of PleoRB hardware (the update has two versions of firmware, one a minor update to the standard hardware/firmware, and the other is something different)
I suspect your PleoRB already has the latest version of the low level firmware.

Thank you Crewella and PleoPet for your answers. I sent a mail this afternoon to Innvolabs about these updates...Maybe they will tell us more.

I've tried to install the female update meanwhile, but it seems that it didn't worked (no sound after 10 minutes waitting)...I think that it is because of the 4 GB microSD card i was using (i've read somewhere Pleo doesn't like microSD card biger than 2 GB)...I have also a 2 GB microSD card, maybe it should work, but i wonder if it is good for my Pleo; i'm afraid it might cause some damages.

After unzipping the female and the low level code, it appears that mostly every files has been created after the "birth" of my Pleo... It seems that it could be an update even for my new Pleo... Searching on the web, i found that the lower code firmware may be a better sleeping position for Pleo that would do less stress on the Pleo's skin neck...

In a few hours, if my battery is full, i will try both updates (lower then female firmwares) to see if it works with my 2 GB microSD card...

Let's hope my Pleo won't die...

Good luck, Hans - I'll try one myself ....... I've been meaning to update (and perhaps change gender  ) on one of mine anyway.

You can tell if your Pleo RB is running the first update by the sleeping position.  The first RBs went into a curled position on switch-off (with the button), but the first update corrected that to the neutral/packing position for less wear and stress on the skin.

Hi Crewella, Hi every one!

I updated my Pleo with the lower code firmware (1.0) and then with the female firmware (1.1) with a 2GB microSD card (the 4 GB microSD card doesn't work). It seems that my Pleo hasn't change at all. In fact, it seems that my Pleo was already updated with the lower code since it returns in neutral position when switching-off.

Yesterday, Innvolabs sent me an answer; here it is:


"Dear Hans ,

For firmware update, there's no need to rush. Since there are no big difference between the recent firmware update and the current firmware of your Green PLEO rb. It is suggested that you play with your PLEO rb for a while until all features are come across.

Now that my updates are done, i can't go back...I will see how my Pleo will evolve... But at this time "she" (for she is now a real She) appears to be real fine.

Hi and welcome! I only have a ugobe and I haven't had it very long either so I don't know any thing about RB's. I just wanted you to know that I am part French meaning my dad is French and my mother made herself a French citezen when she married my dad. I am kinda rusty on my French but can understand fine!

Talon, no, i haven't find a name for her yet... i didn't think it would be such a hard task to find her a name that will suit her well...Since she can't learn her name yet, i still have time to think, think and think...Ouch!!!
