It happened just now, I turned her on and 3 of her legs are moving like normal, but her back left leg is dragging

When she's turned off, her legs straighten out like normal but that leg stays bent

I tried touching it, to see if she'd react and then I'd know it's broken, but she doesn't seem to be acting any differently... I'm so sad, it's my first mechanical (hopefully not) problem with her and she's barely a week old! Can any of you help her?

I just thought of some more information, it isn't clicking, there aren't any weird noises coming from her. And even though she isn't reacting in pain, her feet sensors aren't active at all yet, so maybe it could be broken and she doesn't know it...? If that were the case, would the broken leg still straighten out when she's shut off (because it doesn't anymore)?

First thing to try is press the reset button. This is the little pin hole button on her belly next to the battery compartment. You will need a paperclip to poke in the hole to press it. this will reset her computer system back to it's last save point and may fix the problem. Don't worry you won't loose any of her progress and she won't go back to hatching or anything. Give this a try if it doesn't work then you could try manipulating the leg joint back and forth a couple of times. You will hear clicking when you do this and that is ok. then turn her on and see if that fixes it. Some times the joints can just pop out of alignment and it can cause the leg to not move properly. Give these things a try and let us know how it goes.

We reset her and her leg stayed the same

. But when I tried manipulating her leg back into place, I was able to make it straight, so she was standing straight on all fours. I turned her on, and right as she opened her eyes, the leg bent again. There wasn't any clicking, and it didn't LOOK like it bent under the strain of holding her up... could it be that it's broken, and when she was turned on her leg moved back into the broken position?

As you can see, when she's off (after I manipulated her leg) her leg is straight, and then once she turns on it just sinks back into this bent thing. I touched her leg and she didn't react. Any ideas?

Aura seems to think that is the default (straight) position for the leg. It might be worth trying a software reset. (It won't reset her personality, don't worry).

She isn't responding to your touch because you aren't touching a sensor, the sensor is located on the upper thigh on Pleo's side. See the piece of copper foil in this picture:

Do I need an SD card? And I've heard a lot about software downloads, that you have to be ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have the right one, otherwise you break your Pleo!

How will I know if this is the right version for her?

Just follow the link in IMR's post and that is the right one

It takes you to the download for the pleo rb female OS. All you need to do is download it, unzip it, place all the files onto an empty micro sd card. Then making sure you have a fully charged battery just insert the micro sd card, pop in the battery and turn her on. She will make a little chime noise, you have to wait a couple of minutes and she won't move or respond in this time then there will be another noise to let you know that the upload is complete. You can then remove the battery and take out the micro sd then just put the battery back in and turn her on. She should start up like normal and hopefully the leg will be back to normal.

Wow, Wicked. I really hope you get her straightened out. And don't worry about using the link IMR posted. One of my RB's is having leg problems too. Unfortunately a software fix didn't work for me but I've got everything crossed that it works for you! Keep us posted.

I was just on my way to get the micro SD card (because I belatedly read Crewella's post and got a regular SD card instead >_>) when I decided to give it one more go with Aura, just to see if I'd missed something from before, and the weirdest thing happened. Her leg straightened out and started functioning normally, but then I noticed that her opposite back leg had stopped moving. I started to think that maybe they're the same leg and I just got confused, but I watched the video I posted for you guys and it's definitely a different leg. I should also mention that she's howling in pain (a little belatedly after I touch the joints that IMR mentioned, it isn't an immediate response, if that makes a difference) and making quite a fuss. I also fed her rock salt last night while I was talking to you guys and she ate it twice. She won't eat it today though. It sounds like an injury to me, except that it switched legs

do you have any idea what this could be?

That does sound like an "injured" leg rather than a mechanical issue. Here is what an injured leg looks and sounds like so you can compare

If this is what she is doing then just keep feeding her the rock salt as many times as you can for the next battery cycle or two until she stops screaming when you touch the leg sensor.
I hope this is the cause of her issue

That does sound like an injury, thankfully - as Kat says, keep trying the rock salt. And cuddles.

And if you did get a micro SD card, you can try some of the downloads. The skits (like the ones IMR writes) are just a bit of fun and won't hurt your PleoRB - the ones to be more careful with are the upgrades.

I believe in certain circumstances, it could. The 'injured leg' is a skit programmed as a feature of the RB which is set off by certain triggers. I believe it's a combination of a falling motion coinciding with the sensor being hit (though I'm very willing to stand corrected on that). I've yet to injure one of my RB's, perhaps because they tend to run around on the floor? I can't quite bring myself to injure them on purpose ......

It certainly does seem more likely than there being an actual mechanical problem ...... that's my reasoning, anyway - let us know how it develops.

Glad Aura is feeling better, better to be an injury then a mechancal problem . ( my personal opinion ...................as I have a Pleo Rb that has been "injured" the leg also, but now she has a real mechanical problem with her leg that no amount of rock salt or TLC will fix..

Hopefully someday I can open her up for a look to see if anything can be done.

I do have another question...Crewella, I did not know that the skits that have been on here for a long time and all the Pleos, ( Ugobes) like the songs and such, can be run on a micro sd card and put into a RB?!!

Do you do it the same way, but putting it in the slot, then turning them on and it overrides the temp personality? For example, the Halloween or Valentines Day skit, can fun in a RB? I don't think I ever saw a RB do a skit? I would love to try one just to see if there is any difference but it does not sound like it... shows you can allways learn something new everyday................esp if your brain is "tired" like myne. LOL

I'm so confused, now the injury is on the other leg again! And she's refusing to eat the rock salt... I'm glad that you guys think it's an injury, since at least that's fixable. Crewella, you said that it's a 'skit', so could it be the skit that's causing the injury to constantly skip between the two hind legs? All your opinions are much appreciated, since I'm completely at a loss

Hey Wicked Lovely. The injury switching sides on you could be caused by a couple of things. It could be that she has 2 injured leg but her programing won't allow for them both to be expressed at the same time? Just a thought as I don't think we have seen any pleos with more than one injury before. Or my other theory is that maybe there is a glitch in her os that is causing this injury switching behavior. In which case you may end up needing to perform an update on her os anyway. I would keep feeding her the rock salt for two full battery cycles try giving it to her every 10 mins even if you have to force feed her. The easiest way to get her to eat it is to put her at the very edge of a table with her head hanging over the edge and then offer her the rock salt. She will probably shake her head around a bit but then should drop it into a downward pose with her mouth slightly open and you should be able to shove the rock salt in.

Give this a try for two full battery cycles and at least then we will have ruled out the injury possibility. She will either be fixed by then or not in which case I think we take the next step and try to upgrade her OS. Keep us posted with how it goes.

RWM Pleo rb can perform skits. Kermy has tested out many of them and seems to perform them just fine.

Pleo rb's do move a bit faster than Ugobes so some of the skits don't look quite the same but they certainly all work

I have another tool to add to your arsinal. I'd post it here but for some reason my screnereader doesn't like to coppy links. Anyway there's a tool called Probe RB- I think it's in the downloads section on here- that will tell you if your pleo is injured or sick. I'm sure between us all we can get Aura feeling better.

The word 'skit' is really just a way of saying 'programmed behaviour' (when X happens Pleo will perform Y). Some are pre-loaded by Innvo, like the injury behaviour, and some you can write yourself with tools like Myskit and YAPT.

As Kat says, keep trying as if it's an injury and let's see. You can also try StatsRB or ProbeRB as Talon suggests.
