Pleo Bad Skin in two day?
« on: December 21, 2011, 07:27:40 PM »

I recently got a pleo it took two weeks to ship from Hong Kong.
 ;D

But I've had him for two days and his paint is becoming smudged and his nose paint is already rubbed off. He is a classic pleo. :o

I put a sweater on him but his paint still going away what can I do ???

Sadly the original Pleo's had paint that will rub off over time, you can try dressing your Pleo up and patting gently rather than rubbing or stroking.

Treating the pleo (with pledge/autoglym/vinylex/etc.) will also slow the wear.

So... Its normal even after two days?  :-\ His nose is becoming white and his back an ugly smudgey. I am sad.  :'(

Sorry for bad English, my native tongue is Japanese.

So soon is unusual but the original Pleo's are very old now so perhaps you got one that hasn't been stored particularly well :( Who did you buy it from, can you contact them about it?

I bought it from Hong Kong. It took very long to ship and he's selling the pleo extremely cheap. (120 american dollars) He got good feedback though....

That's why I resorted to the forums, I'm a newbie  :-[ and I want to learn how to take good care of me Pleo.

Thanks for responding maybe I'll just make him a little cape thing and try patting any suggestions for his poor nose though?

Its all white and flakey.

Welcome to the forum Ashwolff! Not sure why you are seeing white flakes. There's no white paint on the pleos. Can you post a photo?

White flakes are very strange, if you could post photos that would be wonderful.

I recall my original Pleo's skin was flakey after only a couple of days. It was very disappointing as this wasn't something Ugobe mentioned and there was no useful information about it at the time. It's one of the reasons for the updated model which was supposed to have had improved skin.

I've had several Pleos with worn skin, but don't remember any of them having white flakes.   A pic would help.  I'm sorry you're concerned.  :snowman:

Before you do anything to it, I'd contact the seller and let them know.  See what they say - it might even be helpful feedback for them. :)

Yes, I agree, it is very very very strange to have paint come off that quick and I have bought over 18 Classic Pleos over the past two years on Ebay and Used and New and none of them even used have lost paint like that and never have I even heard of white paint.  ??? :osomething is very wrong here, Please as others have said, post photos and do not leave positive feedback for that seller untill you have posted photos and talked also to him about it. Perhaps this pleo was painted and that was his undercoat? I am curious, do you still have the ad for that seller where you bought the Pleo.? Was this listed on a US ebay site? I am wondering if I know who this seller is or if it is someone I have not heard of. Please please post photos. Even a Pleo that I paid only $65.00 for was in excellent skin condition so something is very wrong here...skin does not flake normally to start with. We will try to help you figure this out. :candycane: Best wishes to you.

Thank you for all your help.

I fixed him up with some professional green "Kanji" paint. Its been lasting since I put a special chemical that works for rubber shoes also.

I put a christmas sweatar on him also.

Do you think its the weather, here in Japan its a nasty dry cold winter... We can't afford AC and its always cold.

http://bobthepleo.com/forums/MGalleryItem.php?id=6093

Its on the upper nose region, the little white blur. Everytime I touch it it begans to flake.

AshWolff, you'll need to go to the gallery (in the top of the menu) and set up a personal album, then upload your picture to that.  Once you've uploaded you picture, you can link it here.  If you want to ise the img tag, you'll need to upload the picture to some site (photobucket, picassa, etc.)  You can find some info in this topic: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=915.0

I combined your three posts, and once you upload the picture, you can just edit the post to fix the link to the picture! :)  Just ask if you need help figuring out how to do the pictures.
