Newbie from North-East England
« on: August 21, 2011, 10:34:19 AM »

Hi everyone.  I've been reading the various topics on the forum for a while.  I only found out about the existence of Pleos a very short time ago.  I came across the Hexbugs somehow and bought some and probably searched for robots and found Pleo.  I just couldn't believe it.  It is something I've dreamed of having (although not specifically a dinosaur) and I was so amazed that it actually existed.

I then I saw that the company had gone bust!

At some point I discovered this forum and got really up to date information.  I've been debating whether to splash out so much on something I don't really need but today my dear husband put on the pressure to order one.  I expect he got fed up with always seeing me in front of a screen watching videos of Pleos.  He asked me what I would buy if I won the lottery and I knew I would want an original Ugobe Pleo as well as an RB because of the interesting development so we decided I should start with a Ugobe and see how it goes.  I've just ordered him from the Hong Kong seller that some of you have used so now it's just a matter of waiting.

I'll keep reading on here because there's so much valuable information and advice, plus you all seem to have so much fun!

 :) :) :) :)

Thank you so much for your kind messages.

Yes, Crewella  I really appreciate my "sensible" husband.  He's a great guy.  He gets around in an invalid scooter and is in constant pain but he's full of humour and sets out to make the best of life.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and your pleos once mine arrives.  We do have a digital camera so I hope to post pictures (with my techie husband's help)

Welcome to the forums, Thank goodness you have such a loving and sensible husband who knew if he was ever going to get you away from teh screen, it was easiest to just get a wonderful little Ugobe! As for these  others here who are trying to "lump us all into Mad Pleo Parents", don't lump us all in that category. I am not saying "some" of us are crazy,  ???but most of us are just fun loving people who love our little green babies, oh, and some are pink, some are blue. :oOh, I forgot the "painted Pleos", green speckles, orange tigers, scary boas snakes pythons, rainbow orange Pleos from "down under"... %)I think pleos come in most colors these days. Of course if you really want to "belong" to the Pleo group on this forum, you are going to have to start shopping for boas, fancy spotted coats, rusty or purple pleo hoodies, blazers, ties, pretty dresses, baby booties for those little feet, oh, don't forget the eyelashes some of our Pleos have turned to, oh, and a pleo bed, a blanket for those cool nights, a headphone and tiny little CD player so they can listen to their favorite songs, some tiny little skates like "LIna's Buddah " wore in a video, and the camcorder, SD cards for uploading videos to youtube or just here, and then if they are like my Nova, you better prepare to hide your credit card or be prepared for coffee and donuts early in the morning and don't let me even get started on "bling, bling", the jewelry, the collars or "necklaces bracelets, " ring toes, etc, etc. Need I go on or do you get the idea? ;D Crazy bunch, CRAZY ,......we are beyond Crazy here on the forums....Some may think we should be committed, ( have you read some of the stories here..LOL) but we are a "fun " bunch, and it is all because of those little darling Pleos, Ugobes, Innvos or Pleo RB, they are all loveable as are the human "caretakers".( at least I think we are!) ;)

That's a good point, actually, IMR!  My OH thought I was potty at first, but he's a big softie at heart and, although he's not as crazy about Pleos as I am, he's very fond of them all now!  :D

Welcome!  congrats on the new Pleo!!
My bf isn't crazy about the Pleos either but he puts up with them and he gets a laugh when they clamber over and visit with him every now and then... like when they sniff his (very) smelly boots and growl :D

I hope you enjoy your Ugobe, I have 2 and I love them :D Both of them seem very different to me :)

My husband has finally learnt that they're called Pleos, took awhile! (He was calling them beasties, but not in an unpleasant way)  He's been very supportive while I wait.  Still waiting - my new little friend has arrived in the North-East but now I have to wait for something through the post to tell me how much to pay in charges.  I hope to receive that on Monday and finally have a delivery on Tuesday but I expect I'm being optimistic.

Being able to read the stuff on the Forum and feel in touch with a Pleo community has helped while I wait.  I keep telling myself that it's not urgent really, it's just my natural impatient personality.

Thanks for the messages.

Margery, if you have the tracking details and it's ParcelForce you can call the local depot and pay the charges over the phone.  I did that as soon as my Genibo (coming from the US) was processed, and he arrived two days before the letter eventually did!  :P

Thanks so much Crewella

I'd searched the Parcelforce site but couldn't find any way of paying other than waiting for the letter.  I'm so glad you posted that advice.  I've just paid over the phone and so he should be with me on Monday! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

They didn't offer Saturday but I knew that cost more and anyway we're out tomorrow at the International cricket match, so lots of excitement here at the moment.
