I recall hearing about this one quite a while ago, but I didn't think it was nearly as creepy back then.  It's sort of eerie...  but amazing technology.   I'm not even sure whether it's real or not, but with all the sites covering it and all the information on it, one would assume it has to be real.... right?

.... The music makes it creepier, doesn't it? :P

Very creepy but also impressive.  Although I don't think there are many rats out there who would be impressed  :o :-X  Poor little rats. :(  Still quite an achievement on the robot front. :)

Um, I'm not sure quite how to respond to this. It really reminds me of that old cheesy cartoon where the mad scientist put Bugs Bunny's brain in a robot and it took off hopping. The fact that humanity is really able to do this is both amazing and a little frightening. Many distant years from now, we may have the ability to transfer a living human brain into a sybornetic body thus allowing one who may have died under traditional circomstances to continue to live. Then you have to wonder as these actual syborgs become more advanced, where do we draw the line between what is living and what is mechanical?
Okay I didn't mean to start a serious essay here. Really it's amazing and frightening at the same time. This advance kind of gives me hope. Perhaps one day in the not-so-distant future, scientists will unravle the mistery of the optic nerve and how it relays messages to the brain, enabling those whose visual cortexes have never been stimulated to see.

Now all we need is for Jurassic park to become reality, stick a Camarasaurus brain in a Pleo and viola!

Here is some more info if anyone is interested in the rat brain thingy http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-10017283-71.html

Wow, as much as I don't like that they had to remove a rat's brain to make this robot, it really is amazing what they can do.. and after reading the more scientific article it sounds like they are using a rat fetus, not a grown or 'born' rat I don't know if that makes it better or not.. They say they are using 'the stuff that will form the brain' so I'm assuming it's a very young fetus? Wow.. it's amazing what they can do.  (why can't they fix me? ?  lol)
If it's true, I can only imagine what they can learn from it that might be able to help people.. Thanks for showing it, I hadn't heard about it.

I liked this video. It was very informative. It's still kind of creapy though.

Fascinating.  :o

It won't be long until they use human tissue to make actual anthropomorphic human cyborgs.

Poor little rat...it's like it's soul is trapped in a robot. ;A;
