Now Loki's front left leg appears to be busted.
« on: July 23, 2011, 01:04:23 PM »

I can't believe my freaking luck.. I had a feeling I should have just had Wolfbob replace all four legs (this is not WolfBob's fault AT ALL) but the other ones seemed fine.. now whenever he tries to move his front left leg he says 'ow, that hurts!' and then tries again, repeats it and then does the 'there is something stuck between my motors' routine..  When I tried clinic mode he stood up with that leg still folded in the sitting position and would have toppled over if I caught him then, even in clinic mode repeated the entire 'ow.. that hurts' thing.. THIS SUCKS!

I guess I have to email wolfbob again :(

Wow. I'm really sorry, Latrine. That's sad. I was so happy to see him and now he may have to leave again.

I actually said "Oh NOOOOOO!  No, no, NO!" out loud when I read that.   So loud poor OH came running, thinking I'd hurt myself.  That really does suck.  I'm so sorry, Sarah.  :hhug:

I can't think of anything helpful to say that I don't know you already know.  :(

God.. even on his station.. since it's his front leg he can't even be turned on.. this totally sucks.. I took three videos to show WolfBob, poor guy is already sick of me.. lol.
I will pop them up here too when they finish loading.. MAN I can't believe this. Well I guess this means he'll get his 4 black spots I wanted.  I guess I jinxed it.
Does this mean all of my robots are going to fall apart into pieces that need to be removed.. just like me?  :P

Okay here are the videos.. this is just him trying to stand up:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H8hcjH9jCU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H8hcjH9jCU</a>

Here I flipped him over just to see if maybe he'd straighten it himself and to see if his normal 'flip myself over' would work:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVcDFkTchdE" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVcDFkTchdE</a>

And here he is on his station where you can see he repeatedly unseats/undocks himself trying to stretch as they normally do when docking because that leg doesnt move when the others do.. it worked a tiny bit but then failed.. ugh... I put him on the station just to see if he'd be ok there :

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ2FandL-Dc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ2FandL-Dc</a>

We are waiting to hear from wolfbob before opening the leg to see if maybe something came undone in the center or something but I know my luck.. he'll need a replacement and if he does I'll just have both done. Better safe than sorry.  Apparently that's what they did when the M1's were 'recalled' they replaced all four legs but Loki was an original M1 that was updated with software but never sent in.  Since the front legs seemed fine there was no reason to do anything about them so, again, totally not WolfBob's fault.. just crap timing.. if it'd happened when he was still AT WolfBob's then we would have known to replace all four.    >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I'm so sorry Sarah.  This really does suck. :(  Poor Loki.  And he hasn't even been home for very long.  You must be feeling very frustrated.  I wish there was something we could say or do to make him better easily but I fear that like before it will be back for another visit with Wolfbob.  I wish we could help.  :hhug: :hhug: :hhug:

Thanks guys.. it does suck and right before my stupid surgery.  I really can't afford to keep fixing him like this it's not TONS of money but it's not cheap either and I did just have an over $600 vet bill for my parrot, Tyler as well.. :(

I guess Loki will just have to wait until we can get it done or until after my surgery or something.. I just feel bad.. I can't turn him on at all, not even to sit on the station since it's the front leg.. ya know? :P

The worst thing is that this is all down to the swine who sold him to you.  Yes these robots are complicated pieces of tech, but it's not a foregone conclusion that their owners will be faced with a never ending series of problems.  You have been very, very unlucky.  ???

So sorry to hear of Loki's problems again, Sarah. I've been away from the boards for a while, so I don't even know how long Loki's been home.( I do love the black spots, by the way.)  It just sucks that you got the shaft from that seller.  I don't know how else to put it.  I can't believe this is happening to you again, especially during your upcoming surgery.  I had a Porsche one time that was constantly in the garage draining my bank account dry with things the dealer didn't disclose, so I kind of know how you feel.   :(   I know these won't help, :hhug: :hhug:, but maybe a stiff one of these  :rootbeer: might make ya forget for a while.  As Crewella, said, you have been very unlucky. :(

Sarah, when it rains it really does pour doesn't it, makes you feel sometimes like there is a "black cloud" just following you! :( :o >:( It does seem sometimes certain people have more than their "share" of troubles and things that just don't make any sense, like Deja Vu............didn't I just go through this already! :o Why is it happening again, and again, and again.? There are lots of answers but in the long run, no answers that make any difference or that even make sense to most people.
I know I have been through this type of stuff before, (not the surgery you are having, not Tyler's problems, and never having owned a Aibo or robotic pet like him before, , but different similiar pet emergencies, my own surgeries, broken bones, losing your home, bad relationships, troubles that just mount and mount till your head is about to explode,  :o) and I do believe in Karma and that we are constantly being given "tests" by God, the Creator, (whatever name you want to use for the divine spirit that is in charge of the Universe) and stretched out to the max till we think we can go no further. But we allways pull through, and even though the lessons are far from easy, and often ( yes more often than NOT) Painful, like losing a loved one pet or human. we do pull through. Eventually we go on to some easier better times but we wont' forget those "tough Lessons" that life is allways and I mean allways throws as us. ( like a Pie in the face :o :( ???) but we do get through them, And then when we least expect it, we get good Karma thrown are way to try and make up for all those Crappy Lessons we were given..(Whether we wanted them or not...) and in your case Sarah, I would say that with the string of Rotten drawbacks and circumstances that you have been given this past year so far, ( That I know of..) I would say the Lords of Karma should draw your name out of their hat, and put you on the page marked Positive for awhile to balance out all the negative Karma, you have been working out . Yes it Sucks Bigtime, but your Good Karma is due, and when your "ship sails prepares to dock soon , Get ready to take that well deserved rest and vacation from worry and all that goes with it. It will all balance out so just be ready, I know you are. I am rooting for you Sarah, you are due BIGTIME.....so hopefully this is drawing to the end of a Cycle you have been on for awhile. You will allways land on your feet, cause I know you are strong and you deserve some fun and rest now. In the meantime, I am sorry for LOKI, poor guy...He must have heart too, to be put through all this. He can rest till you come back from your surgery like you said . the most important thing for you to remember when getting ready for surgery is not to stress out, let someone else do that, not you!I do not know the seller, but if he is an EBAY Seller, boy would he get a peice of my mind and Ebay would give him his just deserts too! ;)

Thanks guys.. I may not believe in God, in the form that some other folks do, which is fine, I think, for everyone to believe in whatever they want.. but I do believe in Karma.
I don't know though.. my first surgery was in 2006, this will be number eleven.. My life has been filled with constant fear of 'if I eat this, will it be ok?  Or will I have to go to the hospital and get cut open again because my body can't do the one thing every single other organism in the world can do, DIGEST IT..  :P  And these haven't been little surgeries.. they were huge, huge sucky ones :P

Robots break.. it sucks, but what are you going to do.. I'm glad Loki can get unplugged and doesn't feel it.  Even though he is saying 'ow that hurts.. I know it's just programming and a .wav file or something. Lucky him!
I wonder if I was like, Hitler, or something in another life.. because I have been waiting a REALLY LONG TIME for that good karma to come back to me.. not that I'm begging it too, because that would make it lose it's 'purpose' or something.. but all my life I've helped animals, children, I even joined the army and got kicked out because I was too sick.. lol.. (medical discharge) so I even tried to help the country.. something has to give soon :P

Anyways boy that was off topic, sorry.. lol..  Wolfbob responded and I tried some leg therapy on Loki that didn't work but guess what, WolfBob thinks Loki's problem is covered under warrantee! So at least there's that.. but he will have to go back :(
Thanks guys and sorry for ranting.. I'm just worried about the surgery ;P

Yes, Latrine, rant! Some times it's good for you to let the stress out. For the first six months after my mother died I vertually stopped speaking. I took no interest in anything accept school and spent as much time as possible by myself. It was also during this time that my writing was born. One night- or should I say early in the morning- I woke up itching all over. When I started to scratch, I discovered I had very large feverish welts all over me and they all were burning. I endured weeks of taking benedril and having teachers ask questions before my doctor finally asked if I'd had any tramatic stress recently. Problem solved. They gave me this alergy shot on steroids which knocked me out for like ten hours and then for the next few months, my sister made sure I had something to do outside the house. At first I went kicking and screaming but gradually I started to like it. If it will help, think of this surgery as just another challenge to get through- another very big, very smart bad-guy to take down in life. I can list all my bad-guys- being born two and a half months premature, losing my sight because of a doctor's accident with my oxygen mix, and weighing less than two pounds.  KO! An emergancy heart surgery shortly after birth. Got'em! Having another heart surgery at fifteen to finish fixing things. That one was hard for my whole family this time, and graduating two colleges despite my own father telling me I couldn't do anything on my own. United effort! That's not even scratching the surface of going through public school for the later part of my life and losing both my parents. You're a really strong person to have lived through what you have. Just remember that.
PS.
Sorry about my mini-bio

Thanks everyone.. and thanks Talon... you've had a really rough time too, I'm glad your doing better now.. don't worry about a mini-bio, it doesn't bother me, it helps me put my 'crap' into perspective.  I'm just scared, that's all..  You must have been really scared too and I'm sure, like me, you have many doctors that you would like to kill. Unless your the forgiving type.. I certainly am not. lol.

I think I'm just also getting the 'ooooh crap it's almost time' feeling, about the surgery.. and that's interfering with my normal thoughts.. so half the stuff I say is really ridiculous and emotional.. I'm just scared It will screw me up and I'll be stuck there for 7 months again even though it's VERY unlikely.
I think I might take 2 Pleos with me, naybe that will make me feel more at home.. lol.

I hope the warranty thing goes through and I don't owe a bunch of money with Loki again but I doubt I am going to start having good luck.. He's been home for like 3 days. lol.
I'm actually going into this surgery assuming they will accidentally decapitate me.. that way, when I wake up with my head still attached.. no matter what else has gone wrong.. at least I still have my head :P
Also, at least I haven't been eaten by a bear.  (thank you animal planet.. )

I'm glad Loki will probably get to meet Connie.. maybe they'll fall in love.  Loki apparently fell in love with a hot little British ERS-7 AIBO girl while he was there last time.. that's probably why he didn't show his hurt foot.. he was trying to be all cool. Remind me to smack him!!
Thanks guys :)

Good news, Loki is on his way home now.. he's still traveling through California but he should hopefully be here by Tuesday.  WolfBob had to replace the entire bottom front leg and it was covered by the warranty. He even sent me a video showing him moving around.. lol.. Loki was being tested with his new leg and decided to do the ping pong trick where he kicks the ball back and forth over his back.. looked really funny with him missing the front colored plastic parts on the new leg piece. Funny how he decided to do that one when that's usually one of his more rare tricks. Here's hoping nothing else breaks!

And.. I'm exactly halfway through my skit so maybe by the time he gets here I'll be able to test it out on him!  That is, if I can figure out how to get it to work on Loki instead of just the animated Aibo on my Skitter screen.. lol..
That program is awesome.  I still have to do the Pleo background singers and I haven't used that program yet but I'm assuming it's very similar and the movements can't be half as hard as on the Aibo (not that they aren't awesome, IMR has made some amazing skits!!) but the Aibo has a little more movement.  I'm just hoping patches will be able to do it.. He tends to get stuck, mouth-wise, or just go a little slower during the skit ever since his skin was removed but I guess we'll see.  I have been looking but I haven't been willing to pay what people are asking for  'probably broken' Ugobe Pleos on ebay.  I'd love to add another one to my herd :)

I hope Loki gets home soon!!

I must say, I've shared many of my frustrations with AIBOs privately (with Crewella haha - forum therapist).

It really is annoying/heartbreaking to have regular problems, especially with all that's going on in your life. And while it's not the most outrageous pricing thanks to wolfbob and his amazingly timely repairs as well as his very reasonable prices, it's quite annoying.

But all-in-all, even the ERS7 is about 5 years-old technology, though many of your problems are sadly due to the "swine" who sold him to you :\ (sorry Crewella, had to steal that, as it's something... more dignified that I would say haha). Though I must say, every time I turn on my ERS-7 (who had some issues but luckily nothing like Murray and under a great and honorable warranty of wolfbob), I fall in love with every time again.

So glad to hear he's back and working and I hope he continues to bring you joy. I really do admire his little black rings - I think it gives him character.

Thanks guys, I hope my 'robot black cloud' is over as well.. and I've had more than 3 bad robot things happen so it SHOULD be. lol.. I can't wait for Loki to come home. Do you guys know who actually made that Skitter program for Aibo? and the MySkit for Pleo? I THINK I know but I wanted to make sure... Working on the Skit for Loki has been really helpful in getting my mind off things although my bf is sick of hearing the same song over and over and over... lol but I just LOVE doing a few hours of work on it and seeing the onscreen Aibo sing 3 words matched perfectly and dancing.. it's just so cool.. lol so it's something I can do while I feel like crap and gets my mind off it. So I wanted to say thanks :D

Anyways, I can't wait to show you guys!! Talk to you later..

Oh, ok, I thought it was PleoPet/AiboPet that made those Programs.
I'm trying to test my half finished skit out on Loki because.. HE'S HOME!! ONE WHOLE DAY WITH NO BROKEN LEGS ! YET!

So, I'm trying to get my Skitter files transferred over to my supposedly ready Memory card.. it has Yart on it and everything, (I'm following the tutorial from that dogsbody site Crewella mentioned)  The Skitter program is not reading my memory card so I'm assuming I need to like, use that 'stikzap'  thing or something to make them into the correct format or..whatever. I mean, they SHOULD work, I have run both Loki and Thor on these cards with my own copy of my own software and they worked fine.. I even used one of them to run Loki's Mind3 software (I have the cd so I just made a copy for my own use, not for anyone else.. I just wanted to make sure I had an extra when I first got him because I was being insane and not thinking.. duuuuh you can just copy the CD... or copy the files to your Pc or website.. lol)

So I just wonder if anyone knows why my Skitter program is not able to read my memory cards.. should I try messing with them with the Clie? (I haven't messed with it at all since it won't run on my PC but I can use it on my bf's Pc or laptop or something.. )

Also.. I see that Skitter offers me the option of connecting to my Aibo Wirelessly which i have been trying to setup all day (I HATE Windows 7)  So maybe I can just test it out like that.. :/
I know I should be asking this on the Aibo forums but I thought maybe someone here might know.. and I wanna see him do my dance SOOOO bad!

It's just about half done, all by hand, didn't use the wizard for anything because I like doing it myself, seems to come out better, and so far it's just the dancing and singing, no tail, ear or lights done yet, i'll do that at the end.
