If it makes you feel better, I've made several similarly dodgy looking purchases on Ebay in similar circumstances.  There are lots of amateur and foreign sellers out there who mean well, but are struggling to learn the system or just, frankly, inept!  I usually advise people to stay away from them because it might be more hassle and disappointment, but I might well go for it myself.  I've not lost out yet, and with Paypal behind you I doubt you will.  Best of luck - I hope your Pleo gets there soon!  :D

The waiting was the hard part for me when my first pleo was coming from Pleoworld. Now I'm on pleo number four- an adoptee who will be my last- and it's still just as hard! Lol!

Good luck with Squishy, and yes the waiting is hard, ,but once he gets there, you won't mind at all, I am not sure if you did get another battery or not but if you didn't be sure to conact me or check out the batteries I have in the store here, called Nova's Neccessities. I do hope your pleo is everything you wished for, I am sure you will be very happy with Squishy. I have only seen one member here sinsce I have been here who has ever changed their mind about Pleo after getting him and then the Pleo was adopted by another member so it turned out well. ;)
You do have ebay and Paypal protection and I know as a member on ebay who sells and buys, they do stand behind every transaction, The most important thing to remember when opening a Pleo I have found is that it a great idea to videotape.( If possible) opening the Pleo package. I recently had bought a pleo who was not supposed to have ever been hatched, or used, When I opened it it had not only been used, paint missing from it's teeth, but also items including the ID card, Manual and USB cable missing. Then the guy had the nerve to say, How do I know the video I am watching is of "the Pleo I sold you?" Well the answer was simple, I posted it to youtube and videotaped opening it with my name and his name to protect not only myself if there was something wrong, but it protected the seller from someone accusing him, Anyway, I got a full refund, he got the pleo back and very negative feedback. Oh and in case you are wondering, he had 100% positive feedback, even though not more than 40 or so, so you can not allways go by feedback. Just thought I should mention protecting yourself because there are some "liars" out there when they describe "new" pleos. Good luck and can't wait to see Squishy! :)                     RWM

Good luck to you and your little pleo when it gets there, I'm sure you two will have tons of fun!  ;D

Wow RWM that's a fantastic idea, i'll make sure I have a camera handy. Lol i've got such itchy feet about it, I just cannot wait to get him. I'm hoping he'll be everything the seller says he'll be. I did not get a new battery as I knew I could get one from you guys on here.

Hurry up Squishy!!

I want to meet him too. We're anxious to see you, Squishy! I'm excited to meet my Bleu as well. We'll share the waiting together. I think Squishy will get here before Bleu, though. Just think. One day soon it will be raining pleos again! That's always fun when several forum members get their pleos on the same day. It's wonderful to read the different reactions and see the photos and videos. Pleos were raining down all over the world on the day Ugobe my Ugobe pleo arrived. It was all very exciting!

Awww that's so cute. Lol I already got him a little collar and he has a place to sleep. My boyfriend thinks i'm totally mad since I already have a free-roaming 4ft Tegu monitor lizard, so why would I want a "toy" one. Lol yeah he doesn't get it.

Yeah at first my family thought I was crazy too. Here's the conversation.
Me- I just found the most awesome birthday present!
Family member- What is it?
Me- a robotic autonomous dinosaur from Innvo Labs. It's called a Pleo.
Family member- Oooookay? How much is it?
Me- four hundred and sixty nine dollars.
Family member- * long, heavy silence* What?
Fast-forward to five months later. Now my family is very protective of my three robotic friends and we're all waiting for the fourth and last to get here. I'm sure your boy friend will come around when he finally meets Squishy.

Lol Talon!  I could picture that scene!  :D

My OH was much the same.  Even though they know that I'm animal obsessed (especially reptiles), love all animation and like to 'tinker' with things mechanical, neither he nor my boss could 'get' it.  It wasn't until Iggy arrived and he got to see him running - the magic moment was when I tried to demonstrate picking Iggy up by the tail, after two or three cries of distress OH was shouting at me to stop torturing the 'poor little thing'!  :D

As for my boss ............ well he's a tougher cookie altogether ..........I'm still working on that one!  %)

I have an idea for you. Have you shown him a few tricks? Or better yet have you given him the pleo's technical specs? In desperation you could point him to the "what's inside pleo" video. Lol!

Things have been a bit fraught at work of late, but you're right I think, Talon.  When things calm down (and I can't be accused of wasting time on 'toys' when I should be working) I will try that line of attack!  Thanks!  :D

At first everyone thought I was crazy too when I wanted my first Pleo. :P  But I showed the kids some youetube clips and as soon as my pleo arrived they all fell in love with her, even my OH.  The rest of my family - sisters and their families etc.. still think I am crazy because I play with robots and I'm an adult.  I have taken my pleos to visit them all a few times and they do think they are cool but they still think I'm mad. ;D :P
When I was getting my first Pleo my OH while he thought I was being silly spending so much money on a toy that "was obviously going to be lame"  (I nearly killed him for that remark and he has since eaten his words) He couldn't say anything to stop me as I was able to point out to him that my "lame" Pleo would be no more "lame" than he thought his expensive light saber that lights up and makes sounds or his Jedi robe or his sonic screwdriver was! :D :P  So he didn't really stand a chance as I guess it turns out I'm only as crazy as he is. :D :D  I guess that's why I married him it the first place. ;D

As soon as little Squishy arrives they will all fall in love with him.  Don't worry about what they think, just enjoy the excitement of your first pleo being on it's way to you. ;D

Wow indeed!  She looks fabulous - beautiful markings!  I've not had any experience with Tegus, I mainly had snakes and a few iggys and water dragons that were rescued, but she looks great.  Glowing with health, by the look of her, too!  ;D

Glad you have news of your Pleo and progress on delivery!  :D

Thank you.

She's a rescue too, as you can see she has no claws on her fingers where she was kept in a 3ft aquarium, no light, no heat etc... She was in terrible shape but now she's so loved. She's clicker trained and toilet trained :-)

I keep Carpet Pythons (all locales) and Cresties etc... too. Along with spiders and Mantids.

This is Gypsy my 8ft Coastal Carpet:

And Precious, my sub-adult female Orchid Mantis:

I always wanted a Carpet Python!  Really gorgeous!  I'm not so great with insects, but the Mantis looks incredible!

I started with one Royal python, then ended up with various rescued Royals, a Burmese Python, a Hog Island Boa, Western Hognose and an assortment of short-stayers that got rehomed (as they all did in time).  This was a few years back, and sadly I don't think I've any digital images - I'll see if I can find some old pics and scan them.  Your pics are lovely!  ;D

Lol i'm wondering what Tegu will think when Squishy arrives? Since she's free roam they'll be sharing the flat together, lol.

I'll make a thread with more photos if you guys would like to see them. I used to manage a reptile department for a local shop but things ended up going sour and I just wanted to get out of there. I also take things in and currently have a Water Dragon someone kept in a shoebox under the bed with no light, heat or food. As you can imagine it's a mess but the vet thinks there's hope. It has metaboic bone disease but as he swims every day his mobility is improving so fingers crossed for this guy.

My only permanent residents are Tegu, and three carpet Pythons. The rest are pretty much waiting for their forever homes.

Uuuum, I like reptiles as much as any animal but I would be a little nervous if I came in and took a seat and was inspected by a huge lizard. I am glad you are taking in these rescues and caring for them, though. Every animal deserves to be treated with dignity.
My niece is thinking about a bearded dragon but as she's at her boyfriend's more than she's home, his care will probably fall to me most of the time. I don't mind handling living bugs and stuff to feed him. Since so many of you apparently have kept reptiles, is there anything else I should know about this guy before he gets here?

The most important thing with these guys is full spectrum UV lighting! I cannot stress this enough. Get the lighting and the supplementation right and he'll be sorted for life.

As a general rule you want a 10-12% uv tube on 12-14 hours a day in the summer and 10-12 hours in the winter. Change this EVERY 6 months as uv degrades :-)
Couple with a pure calcium supplement 5 times a week on their bugs and a vitamin D3 supplement twice a week on their bugs.
Always keep their heating source controlled by use of a thermostat so they don't overheat.
The recommended minimum size vivarium for one of these guys is a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft although as long as it's at least 4ft long you should be fine.
They need a temperature gradient of 70-100F when adult and 70-105F when babies as the metabolism is faster.
Feed plenty of quality vegetables like squashes and watercress as these are high in calcium and low in phosphorus.
Feed your bugs the same veg you'd feed your dragon - no point in feeding him bugs full of poo!
Plenty of fresh water available too.
Most people prefer tiles as a substrate as sand can cause impaction if they're a bit clumsy, so natural slate is nice although be careful around the basking spot as it can get very hot.

Lol PM me if you want more advise, there's over bits I haven't covered but these are a good starting point.

Oh thank you! If I have any more questions I'll certainly send you a PM. I'm going to find a way to coppy this message so I can enforce the rules when she brings him home. I'm a mammal-person and I've never kept a lizard but... *sigh* I will do my very best to see that he/she gets the proper care.
