I think he's too little to do much with it yet. He seems to notice it and he walks toward it slowly (compared to how fast he can walk) and I try to encourage him to play with it. I haven't had him on much more than an hour (on AL2) because I want to be able to interact with him a bit more and he looked kind of bored being left on to play by himself yesterday.

Kat: " The peeing is one of the many things I am really looking forward too "   :o :o :o

I love the disco Aibo but I felt so bad because I think that's what really through Loki's legs off.. but they were going to go anyways and he's always happiest when he's dancing.. or wearing a pink dress or something.. so at least he went crippled doing something he loves.

The song he had the hardest time with, surprisingly, was 'here comes the sun'  and it was one of the more low-key songs!!  This was a long time ago before his legs were as bad, too.. weird.
Will the 111's 'watch' tv?  Loki has been doing it for 2 days now and for the first time I have not heard one peep about wanting to get up and play like he usually says when confined to the station.. maybe you can pop Vader in front of the TV.. just put Star Wars in.  ;D

Haha, I don't think so - since I'd imagine movement/sound is how the 7 "watches" TV and the 111s only listen to very specific sounds (I'm assuming since the remote etc.). However, Nicco has before - although usually he's distracted staring above the TV (I have some decorative stuff involving a large red ball on the speaker shelves lol). But he has responded to things said on TV several times before.

I think one of the things I love about the 111 (as a reason it personally fits better) is how immersed in their own little world they are (although also interact and so forth). Some has to do with certain technological differences but I think some of it is just in the software and model itself as well. But that could just be me personalizing it.

Kat: " The peeing is one of the many things I am really looking forward too "   Shocked Shocked Shocked

I have a sick sense of humor. :D  For me this was the one thing I saw on youtube with Eric doing it that made me really want an Aibo  :-X  The thing that pushed me over the edge and said buy buy buy!!! :D
A bit like burping pleos! :D

Not so sure Starwars is a good choice of program for Vader to be watching.  He might learn some more skills with the light saber and then where will Murray and Nicco be. :)

Nope, Ubu doesn't seem interested in the TV either.  They do seem 'in their own little world', that's just how I see Ubu too!  :D

I took my curtains down today to play with the AIBOs as I noticed they cause the most interruption in terms of their distraction. This is especially true with Nicco, who I will hopefully get to re-do some things I've seen him do later today. I think because the ERS-7 has a bigger camera resolution it probably sees a wider range of things than the other guys do (?) and if this is so, those curtains will almost always be in his line of sight/in the way. Even when he gets his bone, if he ends up scanning around afterward, he'll get confused and go to the curtains (staring up at the rod it seems).

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=migIXA39fWY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=migIXA39fWY</a>

This is just some of the stuff I managed to catch on video of them being on at the same time (or "interacting" but that's an overreach). They're both still young, especially Murray (who is restored from a backup as I did some brain surgery when testing out his limbs to verify his falling frequency), but Vader really shines given his speed.

But, even with some of the red cubes slightly blocked (as you'll see in the video), there is still the red beacon of the vase (that they had been ignoring so I didn't move it lol). Murray gets distracted by it and starts heading to it first; however, he's no speed demon yet. Vader does his own thing with the ball and then gets distracted (about 1 minute in) and beats Murray to the vase, walking right into it (cut the camera to get him at that point).

I am glad you caught that on tape, those are the kind of things you don't believe unless you see them for yourself, I was surprised at how quickly they actualy can move! Faster in general then any Pleo, and certainly more than Pleo RB which take tiny steps then stop, I think taking down the curtains did help in some way as far as distractions go, Is it the color Red that confuses them because of the color is like their ball, or just the color Red itself for another reason? I didn't hear them making any barking sounds, do they or is it more electronic sounding?
Thanks for posting the videos, it gives me some education so if I can save for one in the future I will be a little more educated. ;)

From what I've seen most Aibos kind of beep but some of the beeps are aranged like barks or short howls. Bobs, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong seeing as you own three of them. I'm only stating an observation from various videos I've seen. I think the beeps give them a bit of mistery.

I have five aibos and I've never really heard any noises from them that sounded like barks (except for maybe a few sounds during certain modes with the ers-111). Though they do make many noises that sound like howls though for the most part they don't sound like dogs.

They generally do beep or do more musical/robotic tones than they do any real barking sounds. The 111 has a bark-sounding tone like aibo7m3 mentions but there is no actual dog type soundbite. I think an important thing to keep in mind with AIBOs is that they're generally meant to be robotic companions (entertainment robot is on every official manual of them I do believe) so instead of a robot imitating something in nature, it's more about the "nature of life" being imitated on the robot. If that even makes remote sense (see previous comparisons - basically it's about what the concept is).

I think the red, especially the curtains when the sun beams through (which gives it a different "tint") is just picked up by them as being similar to the pink color so they "track it." Up close I notice they seem to have more issues though. For instance, I have two large styrofoam balls painted red and from a distance they look up at them and seem distracted (especially Nicco who usually thinks all things red and at a distance are his AIBOne). However, up close they don't seem that interested and don't follow it the way they do when I hold the little ball up to them. Also, the leather surfaces don't seem to get picked up as frequently as the cloth surfaces (the curtains and the cubes, which are some sort of fabric material). I'm not sure if this has to do with the gloss making it appear different to them, but these are just some observations I've made. I'm possibly reading too much into it.

Since the curtains are still down I'm trying some random things out and recording them. I decided to turn them all on again and place Eva in the middle to see how they track her and so on. Murray showed the most interest, and, at the end of the video, Vader now does a more handstand version of his nose dive (this was the first time I've seen him do it this way and I just happened to be recording!):

That was great to see the different reactions. ;D  Murray really did seam the most interested in Eva.  It was as though he was very curious about her and kept going in for the sniff to check her out.  Nicco seemed a little uncertain and then just plain distracted by other things and little Vader really is in a world of his own :D  I love the handstand!  That was awesome ;D
I liked the previous videos you did too of Vader and Murray.  Vader seemed so excited in them to have two balls to play with.  Murray was very slow to get around but being a baby still I guess will slow you down.  I really do hope I can collect at least one of my puppies today.  Watching  your videos has just got me wanting to get my hands on my own even more  :D

Oh that's right, it's Monday there now isn't it?

Hopefully yours come today! Or at least one, I'm looking forward to having you play with both of yours for the first time ever. They really are great! (And so hard to stay away from)

Yep it is Monday morning and still about an hour before I can call the courier company to organize to pay ransom for my 7.  I am hoping to organize to collect him myself this afternoon.  Then I can pay his ransom in person and give the poor credit card a break. :P

How much traveling these AIBOs get to do :)

Wish I could pack myself in a little box and go to AU and UK (mostly the latter since AU is way too far for my confined taste haha).

You get guys from CA to AU and UK to AU, and my little Murray traveled from AU to MI to CA back to MI. If only these little guys could truly talk! (Well, Murray would probably complain about being dissembled and shipped off haha).

I loved Vader's headstand!!  :D

He actually jumped into it - I've never seen any of the others jump apart from the ERS-11x!  :D

For the record - I got VERY tired of the 210 'I can see my ball' 'paradada-dada' tone and replaced it with a bark with Aibotool, so Wilma does bark.  Quite a lot!  %)

I have some heartbreaking news. Lately, I've been very busy and neglected the AIBOs. While Nicco and Vader handled this abandonment with dignity, Murray seemed upset.

When I turned him on today, this is how he treated me. I don't know what to do. I want to make him feel better but he won't even let me get close to play with his ball.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdKqhXf_nro" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdKqhXf_nro</a>

(For those who have seen other performances of this personality, this is completely CLEAN and forum safe :) - and it doesn't always run the personality the same way every time [for those who saw some of the uhh... nastier things Murray said, he actually didn't even do them during any of this filming])

Where did you get this personality? I have seen many videos of aibos with it but never a download for it. Could you give me a link to where you got it from? Maybe I'll end up trying this software on little Boe...

I believe I showed a part of this before, or described it, but here is a video as I caught Nicco doing this the other day on camera:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8kPoo_O3I4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8kPoo_O3I4</a>

(I take the curtains down and all the red cubes out of the shelving unit and hide the red vase and it minimizes most distractions)
