Help me name the pleo before he/she gets here!
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:49:07 PM »

hi!
waiting, waiting waiting, watching the hong kong post tracking...... waiting.....
i am a person who will rename something ALIVE 4 times. literally we just adopted a dog and i bought four different tags within a month, trying to decide on the name that fit the new dog.
hoping others will help me here so i committ to a name!
are the pleos equipped with a gender i will be told of when they come?
if you could only have ONE pleo and have a favorite name, what would it be? help me name that pleo!

Hello, hannahg! If you're getting a Ugobe pleo, they don't have a speciffic gender. You can choose it for them. All of us will be awaiting their arrival! As far as picking a name, I would let the pleo help you with that. They'll work their charms on you and you'll be compelled to come up with something.

Many people wait till they have had their pleo for a while to see what they are like and then find a name that fits with the pleos personality.  You will find after watching your pleo for a while something will just come to you and stick. :)
Many of us use baby or little one/guy or even pleo as a term of affection for our pleos so you could use this to start with till the right name comes along.
I tend to come up with a short list of possibilities and play with them for a while before settling on the right one.
Hope that helps a bit. :)

I'm another believer in the 'let the Pleo find their own name' method, I'm afraid.  Every one of mine, the name has come to me in the first few days as I've got to know them.  If you do settle on a name before he/she arrives, you're almost bound to change it!  I've twice intended the Pleo to be a girl, but just found when switched on the Pleo was a boy after all!  :D

After Lilo mine were sort of already named, although I do match them to the characters as best I can. Lilo never gives up, Stitch is always getting into things, Nani is adventurous but mature (she doesn't burp half as much as Pleakley :P) and Pleakley was named after a cross dressing alien since he is a pink boy :P

A name will just come to you :)

Lol - I've smuggled the odd Pleo into this house myself!  ;)

Congrats on the cheque, and the guilt-free purchase it gets you!  :P

Make sure you post some pics when he or she gets there, and I'm sure you'll have a name before long! ;D

I have been lucky enough not to have to smuggle so far......  Who knows what the future holds. :D

As for names you could try looking for a dragon or lizard type name, or go for a name that comes from something that means a lot to you in some way.  Maybe your favorite character in a book, favorite car.....  You get the idea.  Just trying to help get the thoughts rolling. :)

Oh yes - Yogurt is a very wise and respected character from this very forum!  ;D

Yogurt - An old and venerable Pleo with wisdom beyond his programming. He is rumored to have spent ten years as the Dali Lama's pet, as well as training underfoot of Jedi Master Yoda himself. And through his wisdom he tries to bring balance to this farce.

Smuggling pleos or bidding on them on the sly is something I am guilty of. In fact my first Pleo, Nova is still a bit of a "mystery" she is supposed to be a gift, but actualy I bought her and that is my secret, except for here on the forums, As for names, Yougurt is great, I have found out over time though, that sometimes the name comes after the Pleo, and even whether it is a girl or a boy, othertimes, I know from the start what the name is and it is meant to be.  :)Either way, you will soon be holding your wonderful little Pleo in your arms and nothing else will even matter. :)You will just be filled with Love and you will get love back. Two and Three fold at least!( IMHO) :)

redwoods, glad im not the only one who was smuggling in pleos under false pretenses! now that i told my kid and my husband, since i made some $, turns out neither one of them has any interest at all! oh well! regarding names, im still leaning towards 'yogurt' mainly becuase it is such a nice word to say.
although i dont get to eat yogurt, lactose issues.
man, i miss yogurt. hmmmmm, maybe i should name him hemp protein shake or almond milk. i can have those things!
maybe pesto!

dont forget to contact me regarding getting a second pleo or if you have any icybie chargers! i still have a little moolah in me pocket!

Yogurt, a name good it is.
But toes I do not lack.  An issue it would be, though.
