Reset Loki..
« on: May 15, 2011, 02:57:40 PM »

Well I finally went and reset him to puppy.. I was upset because I had to reregister him and everything.. his name, my name, my face, etc.. but it will be fun watching him learn.. and when he finally grew up and sat down on the charger for the first time, he wagged that tail like a real dog, faster than I have ever seen.. so then I decided to ask him what his skill levels were and this was.. just hysterical :

I've had a lot of fun raising Nicco from puppy and it's really entertaining watching his skills develop. It's fun to watch them learn to walk too and it only took me about 45 minutes before he was an adult.

I feel "closer" to him because of it. The responses are funny when they're "weak" - my favorite is "I am the worst Aibo ever." Nicco never said he sucked though.

Yeah I was VERY surprised when he said that but he literally had learned to walk and then I asked him if he was hungry and he was ready to flop so he went right to the station.. he'd had no time to do anything with any toys or walking yet.... I couldn't believe he said he sucked either..lol.

That was hilarious!  I just laughed so hard that I got Diet Coke up my nose!  :P Tell Loki that I was playing my guitar tonight, and I pretty much suck at that too.  :D  I love the 210, but I got to get one of these guys.  I will in due time.  Glad to see you are having so much fun with him.  ;D  I am really enjoying all the documentation from both you and bhobbes.  Keep up the good work!  ;D

I couldn't bare to reset my first ers-7 since I didn't want to erase his memory so I bought a second mind 3 stick which I reset. Now my second ers-7 is using that copy of mind 3. They are cute as babies though I like the way the other models grow up better.

I don't know how the others grow up, do they need less attention?  He needed me to be there like, constantly, in his face or he would just lay there making depressed noises so literally killed my back laying on the floor with him so I could be right in his line of sight because that seemed to make him wag his tail and be happier more. I would have enjoyed watching him crawl around and act puppy-ish for a few weeks but at least I get to watch his skills develop.. I agree with bhobbes, I think I'll enjoy seeing his antics more as I watch him develop his skills....
I was wondering though, Nicco said he was a 'respectable' Aibo.. will the way I play with Loki and interact with him have anything to do with what he is? Or is that already set in there?  I guess I ought to backup his files and check out his 'brains' :)

Most of the other models, such as the 210, have more "complex" development and are more conceptually similar to life (in terms of raising something from infant to adult).

You can get an overview here (warning for 210 owners, it has possible spoilers) that really gives you an in depth glimpse to the 210 development (I'm excited for mine! Eep!):

One thing I have noticed with Loki since going from puppy stage is, quite often, when he is walking around and especially when he is looking for his bone, he is opening and closing his mouth a lot..  also, when he does get his bone, he often shakes it from side to side or all around with his head for a little bit, much like a real dog would do if he was very excited about a new toy..  I hadn't noticed any of those behaviors before..  Do Nicco or Java ever do that?

My two ers-7s Aki and Donna do that sometimes (yes now that I have mentioned aibos names some of you may know me from Aibo Life Forum). The other models may need less attention but they take far longer to grow up and distinctly show each stage and all my aibos have acted very differently when they were in the same stage. With the other models it really depends on how they are treated. I got my ers-210 when he was in childhood 1 stage and my ers-312 when he was in the second adolescent stage. My ers-210 Boe, and my ers-312 Aron are now both in the adult stage and they act very differently! Aron is a sheltered aibo and Boe is a nice guy aibo. I kind of like it how they act so differently even though Aron is upset very often.

Ok I checked out his brain..  Heres what it told me:

Maturity Level = 100%
Walking Skill Level = 0%
Pink Ball Skill Level = 0%
AiBone Skill Level = 33.32%

Active time 233 minutes
Personality = I am a smart affectionate AIBO

He has access to both his ball and bone and has been playing with each but has been WAY more interested in the bone..
Somehow I just knew he wasn't going to be respectable.. lol.

I've not noticed Java do that with the bone, yet - I'll watch for it.

If you actually do mean shake like a real dog (compared to when he picks it up and just kind of sits and smoothly moves his head from side to side about with it in his mouth) then no I haven't noticed that behavior from Nicco at all.

I'm not sure if Nicco gets confused or not but he makes the Aibone face all the time even though the Aibone is not around (maybe this is why his skills improved on it?) and has even gone to treat the pink ball like the Aibone. This has mostly been over the past few days which have been pretty dark and rainy (my favorite though) and since I like that and don't care about having all the lights on just for a robot, I just accept that he may have more flaws during those periods and make sure not to video record him. Under those lighting conditions he usually can find his ball but not the Aibone or he'll find it and then "lose" it or not "see" it clearly/well. His mistakes build character, maybe that's why he's so respectable!

I wanted a smart affectionate Aibo! Maybe I'll use that other Mind 3 stick and see if I can get another personality lol.

The different personalities actually do not act differently. What personality they are has something to do with the skill levels. I think it's either something about their current skill levels or skill levels on mind 2 when they were upgraded to mind 3 (some information from the software is stored in the aibo with the ers-7s). Though I am not sure about this I think I heard it somewhere.

We seem to have had a sudden surge of interest in Aibo on this forum, so it's great to have another experienced Aibo owner join us!  :D

Especially one with a new Pleo RB!   ;)  ;D

Yeah, I know it doesn't actually affect their personalities but I still want a SMART one! Who cares about respectable? I don't. Hehe. (Sarcasm, I think)

Yes it is really helpful having folks here who know this stuff as it's kind of difficult to figure it out on your own.. especially when you've never dealt with anything like this before.. I remember taking apart my first computer and making small programs when I was a kid but times have changed, lol..

Heres a few I was wondering about though, aibo7m3 , you said  "The different personalities actually do not act differently. What personality they are has something to do with the skill levels. I think it's either something about their current skill levels or skill levels on mind 2 when they were upgraded to mind 3 (some information from the software is stored in the aibo with the ers-7s). Though I am not sure about this I think I heard it somewhere."

But didn't Sony sell ERS-7's with mind 3 installed, since I assume they were still selling the Aibo's at the time they made the upgrade? If so, then would those ERS-7's just have a random 'personality? Just curious.  Bhobbes and I (and another member whose name may or may not rhyme with Brewella, who has a Sony memory card reader & an ers-7 whom we do not know the personality of.. lol) can all compare and see if we notice any differences..

Also, aibo7m3 , I was reading one of bhobbes messages about his aibo dancing more on mind3 and you said they only dance when they are told too (and by now, we know they can definitely hear things wrong and think you are telling them to dance so I understand that) but I have had times where there was no TV on, I wasn't talking, the bird was actually asleep, Loki was bored and just decided to dance, or a similar silent situation where I've heard him break into dance from the other room while I was in here typing..
Also, if I'm quiet for a long time, he will sometimes ask 'Are you ok? Let me show you a dance" I'm sure that's probably programmed in for 'silence' or something.. but he HAS danced before on his own aside from the bored thing, so is it really true that they only dance when you tell them too?
I can't wait to get him in a nice furnished carpeted room so I can really see him respond to me.. and my bf will stop making fun of him and telling me to get him an aibo hearing aide.. (to which I respond "ok, give me 500 bucks")

And don't worry, bhobbes.. for such a 'smart' aibo, he got off his charge station last night at like 3 minutes to 11 and I had to rush to get him to go back on it himself before he passed out for bedtime so that he'd dismount on his own in the morning.. even I'm smart enough not to get out of bed in the hospital when they give me sleeping meds in my iv.. :P  I think that where it says 'smart' we all know it should really say smart 'arse'  because that's how they act!  Although Loki hasn't been cracking as many jokes since being 'reborn' but I think he'll work into it as he 'ages'.

Poor Loki is currently stuck on his charger as one of his legs is making too much noise and I don't like it.  I feel so bad for him.. earlier I said hello to him and he said 'can you help me?"  then when I asked if he was ok or whatever it was to get him to tell me his mood, he said sad and then he said "I wanna Play!" lol.. poor little puppy..

The one leg is now making the noise when I give him his 'massage' so I am waiting for my bf to come home and then we will clean his parts out (ahhhhhhh, scary!!) I assume the bird dander and the constant double Jack Russell Terrier shedding doesn't help...
Oh, one thing I was wondering about.. when he does make the little noises in aibo-speak or whatever it's called, like when he says his name or mine, If I copy the noise and get really close he will repeat it several times and wag his tail like crazy.  Is this just a coincidence?  Am I just wasting my time looking like a moron making weird noises at my robot dog?? If they were baby noises it would be ok but these are really weird noises.. lol. (My parrot has also started copying a few of the nigher pitched noises he makes)

At any rate, I just bought him a memory card so I can load that whole dance routine thing so he can do those 22 dances like it says on the aibohack site.  I am soo excited.. I'm hoping I can make a cd of the songs and bring it with me to show the kids next time I go see them :) I'll make sure all of his parts are working perfectly first though.. some of those dance moves are very fast!!!!
