Call me dinggy but did you physically have to put the music file into his ummmm programming or do the Aibos have some sort of beat-detection?

hes running a software called mini dancer.  which is free to download if you have a programmable memory stick for aibos.

and it dances to the beat :) anything by daft punk is usually a winner.

Oh okay! That's cool. So they do have beat detection. About ten or eleven years ago, I heard a snippet of "All Things Considered", a show on National Public Radeo about the Aibo. They talked about this massive Aibo convention that used to meet in the basement of some library in California. There were fifty or so Aibos there and they danced together. It wasn't a rock song though. Sorry. I think it was something by Snoop Dog. Okay ready to see bad spelling? Here we go. Bow-wow-wow Yippeo-yippiay. Something like that. Okay I'm embarrassed now. This one guy's Aibo would boot to the song "I feel good". I think the Aibo's name was Rusty. Pretty amazing robots these Aibos!

well there are programmed aibo dance routines for meet ups! thats disco aibo.

they all sync up because at the begining of the song is a cirtain series of tones and all the aibos start their dance atthe same time :)

but aibo dancer is a beat detection dancing.

I must admit that I've never really fancied a 3xx series Aibo ............. but the pugs DO look very cute, I think they have more character than the more cartoony Latte types.  He's rather won me over!  ;)  :D

Really cute.. so that program doesn't let him dance to any beat but just specific ones that they've made special for him, or certain types/genres of music that they recognize the general beat of?

Pretty cool!!

The 3xx series is growing on me as well,  Crewella.  I have found disco Aibo, but where do I find the Aibo dance with beat detection?  Poor old Bessie ( my xp laptop) , she's really going to get a workout this summer!  :)

Sarah, if you go to www. Aibohack.com , you will see a section for disco Aibo.  If you play one if the songs, you will hear a distinct series of beeps that the Aibo recognizes and starts the dance. I think this is what pirpintine is referring to.

Hi Crewella! Translation of the words " Sony released software" is actually "very expensive and impossible to find software."
Thanks again! :)

aibo dancer for 210s - full beat detection software for the 2XX series, released by sony, somewhat hard to find.

aibo mini dancer - a trimmed down version of the above for the 3XX series (latte macaron & pug) - available for free released by sont as a 'treat' - usable if you have a programmable pink memory stick

disco aibo - 3rd party made sofware which syncs up aibos to dance to predefned dances to music made by the community - good for showing off or fr meet ups

the ers7s have an equivilant to aibo dancer built in. you just say 'dance to the music/beat'

:D

reguarding the pugs, yeah i never much liked the 3XX series but the pugs really grew on me! sort of ugly cute! theyre nice little aibos too. much softer personalities, though maybe a bit needy, but you can train them not to be.

Hmm when I tell Loki to dance he totally ignores me.. I got green eyes from the word beat just now so maybe he recognizes it.. of course there was no music playing..  %) %)

I'll have to go try it in the living room with some music..  I thought from what it said in the book that was something I had to install for the ers-7. I saw the disco stuff on aibohack but it requires a different memory card and I don't have one right now :(

But your pug is REALLY adorable.. and how is Portal 2? Looks cool and very different, didn't play the first one.

So the music isn't coming from your pug, your playing it and he's detected it and responded? That's so cool.. Sorry if I'm dense.. I'm still new to all this.

i would love to know how portal 2 is! unfortunetly, no spare cash! ill wait for it to be in a steam sale ;)  i LOVED portal 1... ive played it so many times.. its a pretty short game but its a perfect length for what it is.  doesnt over stay its welcome.

yeah the music is coming from my laptop, and he detects a beat, helps to have it at a good volume, and have music with a good strong beat, so techno, dance anything by daft punk etc etc! haha.

the ers7s can if set up right play music from your computer through their chest speaker and dance to it.  but i honestly couldnt help you with that! no experiance with 7s myself :)

No Demo yet!!  And I'm 31.. is that still ok?  :-[ :-[ :-[ %)  I also have a few Pokemon figures which my boyfriend hid while I was in the hospital.. whats so embarrassing about having a bunch of strangely named animal figurines displayed in my favorite spot?? Jeez..  They are almost as cute as your pug!!

Do you have more dances to show us?

hahah i imagin ill be liking poemon still way into my 30s and beyond! i have TONNES of figures and plushies and all sorts, but me and my fiance are into all manner of nerdy things (collecting anime figures, video game merch and so on!) so we have them all openly on display! (my most recent thing being a medabots model kit action figure! was super fun to build and is more posable than most other figures i own!) haha! ;D

im sure ill do more dances!  i dont have many songs with a heavy beat, so hell mostly complain but i can put it in auto dance mode to music where he just dances however he wants but will adjust to a tempo if he picks one up :)

so ill maybe do a few more on the weekend!
