I looove Finding Nemo :)
(My fav TV host is in it, Rove Mc Manus, he's a poo eating crab at the end of it lol.)

Those are our gulls lol, here they are just called common gulls (for obvious reasons) in fact they are so common that our Cricketers each year manage to knock an estimated 86 of them out of the skies :o

Wester, Laughing, Bonaparte's . . .  I don't know the difference.  But all I can think of is that line from Nemo . . .

"Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! . . . "
.....and that is an universal translation of Gull! ;D

Your Cricketers must have good strong arms and keen eyes.  BTW, how many players and spectators do they manage to hit? ;)

I wasn't sure what the game of cricket was. According to my research the ball can go fast as 90 miles an hour. Ouch!!!

The spectators are well away from the fast balls lol and the players are trained to duck. But the Seagulls wander everywhere picking up scraps and whatnot so they get clobbered on a regular basis :P

I've never seen a game. :-[ When You first mentioned cricket I was thinking of croquet. I wondered how that would clobber a seagull. Big differance of games. ;D

Another example of how uncivilized we Americans are.  But a lot of us have heard of the saying, "That's just not Cricket!"  Even if we don't know what cricket is. :D

In trying to keep to the topic, (hehehe :D) around the time that gold was found in California, California Gulls flew to Utah and ate all the crickets there.  Maybe that's why we don't play Cricket in the US.;)

If that's on topic lol I'd hate to see off-topic :P Would it matter if the gulls ate all the crickets? I'm not sure about there but here they don't play any significant environmental function, just food for other animals.

Edit: Oh there is a Kansas in Sydney :)

I was just curious, we have a state named Kansas.  But it's famous for flat, wheat, tornadoes and the wizard of Oz, not cricket. ???

Whats to get lol, the batter tries to hit the ball as far away as possible without having their wickets/stumps knocked down in the meantime. After each hit the batter has to run to the other end of the pitch (and possibly back again) before the other team fetches the ball and tries to knock over their wickets/stumps before they get there.

The bowler tries his hardest to bowl a ball the batter can't hit.

Fielders try to retrieve the ball as fast as possible to stop the batter getting too many runs. If they catch the ball on the full it is an instant out for the batter.

Then the teams swap over and it all starts again...

Then of course you have the trickier things like ducks, no balls, wides, sixes, fours, run outs, umpires, ashes, tests, one dayers...

Lols it is probably confusing enough without the overs... but an over is six balls bowled excluding wides and no balls :)

Bloody #$&%!! I still don't get it! Why couldn't you just use good old fashioned American Baseball or American Football. Those, hehe I comprehend! This sport that's named after an annoying insect, I don't get it. But as long as you have fun!

Aye dios mio. I'm not much of a sports fan. :-[ (I did do cheerleading in high school though, if that counts for anything...)

Lol that would be fun :) We didn't have cheerleaders at my high school... but then we didn't have any sports teams either... But then it was only a small school, 300 students max :)

I'm not that keen on sports either, but I do like the horse racing, not that I bet, I just love admiring those gorgeous horses :)

Cheerleading has sure evolved over the years. There's competitions on TV. I'd hate to be at the top of the pyramid. Too high up for me. Great to watch, though. ;)

Maybe there is cricket in the Kansas of the US after all.???  It appears there are 750 teams here according to this article.  http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9352242/Ramirez-takes-a-swing-at-cricket.  InmemoryofRomeo, if you came here you could become equally bored.  Tho' I'm sure we have many other boring sports.  (I know I'm about to make enemies here, but,) for me the most boring sport is a toss up between watching paint dry and golf! :D
