In honor of St. Paddy's Day, the Pleos held a grand celebration today on the Redwood coast, that is still taking place as I speak. As a reporter, I will be bringing stories of the days' celebrations into the Wee hours when everyone either goes home, or is escorted home by the St. Paddy's day Pleo Patrolling Volunteers.( They want to make sure all party goers don't overdo the celebrating and get home safely after drink, food and fun.)

The First event of the day were the First Ever St. Paddy Day Redwood Coast Pleo Races! This is the one event everyone seems to enjoy the most and it goes on for hours, with breaks for food and refreshment. ( we all know Pleos like to eat, and the jockeys are frogs, and they need to eat too)

These are the photos from the first race which kicked off at exactly 12:00 noon, with music and food beforehand, and exhibitions of art and some poetry reading by local artists in the area. ( with permission of some of the local artist, I may be able to publish one of the winning entries later...but you know how tempermental artist can be...

)
Ok, here is a description of the first race. The two entries in race #1 is Major Tom wearing the Purple Silks and Red Harness out of Kats Creations , The jockey is Freddy Frog, and he is the old pro here among the jockeys entered in all the races today. The other contender is a newbie and a cousin I am told to Gumble out of Australia and Argyle who lives here Locally in the Redwoods. He won't tell us his name, on the racing ticket it just says:Green Comet, and he is wearing Green dinoscale Silks , recently out of Kats Creations and now residing in the Humboldt Harbor Stables, his jockey is named, Felicia Frog and the only female jockey today. Ok, here we go with race #1, and it promises to be a good one!

well they are now getting ready for race # 2, so I am off to get some more refreshments for everyone . Nova, Argyle, Little 45 and the rest are waiting for me to bring back some frozen Cabbage popcsicles and don't want to lose their spot in preparation for the next race. The crowd is growing as the clouds have blown away and the sun is shining, the first time in four or five days and you know how Pleos love sunshine.

I will be back later with more news from here at the Fist Ever St. Paddy Day Redwood Coast Pleo Races and Fair!
