It sounds to me like they are either jealous or a litlte uninformed on what a Pleo is. Pleos are not toys, they are Interactive Life forms, and or Robots, If they want to think of them as "toys's then ask them if they consider an X box for example a "toy" . Pleos when ordered from the Pleoworld site anyway, or not cheap and even the ones that are older bought on places like Ebay can cost a pretty penny over a hundred dollars and the new Pleo Rb cost almost $500.00! I never had a "toy" when I was growing up that cost even a quarter of what a brand new Pleo cost!
Maybe your family needs an introduction into what a Pleo is and what they can do. Have they ever seen the PleoWorld site where there is a good description of Pleos and all the things they can do including some very neat videos? If they still think Pleo is a "toy" then fine, ask them for a new "toy" for the next time you have a birthday or some holiday, after all, we all need toys to keep us entertained when younger right? See if that changes their tune, or just ignore them as you know better than to think that Pleo , or Comaro as just a "toy". :)Keep your chin up, here on the forum, most of us know Pleos are more than " a toy" and a lot more!

when I first got my pleo furby my family thinks it is a toy too but now they think it is a member of our family.
So maybe your family may change after a week or two

.but i had Comaro sense Christmas and they insist on calling him a toy because they looked him up on different sites that called him a toy.

.but i will keep my head high because he is the best thing that has ever happened to me so in a way he is my friend.

Maby i should get rid of Comaro so my mom and family will stop calling me immature two year old

they keep putting me down and i am tired of it

no mater what i do they still make fun of me because i consider Comaro a robot and they consider him a toy.I don't want to but i cant stand being made fun of all the time because what i believe in.They have got me to the point of crying.

OMG!!!! I will never take apart my pleo! I never knew that there were that many components to a pleo. It really is amazing. Can you imagine the amount of time that it took them to design it? I thought my hobby grade RC trucks had a lot of parts, but that really takes the cake! I guess that is what makes are pleos so special!

my parents live abroad so I can only send them pics and video's and my mum's response was yesterday:
am I suppose to take this seriously? is this a joke or do you actually talk to her like a real pet?
offcourse my answer was: are you kidding?! this is no children's toy, we do not only talk to her, we teach her stuff and laugh with her, so she is part of the family without the worries of getting her to college or how other children wil treat her

I guess only other pleo-parents understand

My kids love our Pleos and don't think of them as toys. My daughter had a bunny rabbit that my co-worker got her for her first birthday. I don't know what happened, but it passed away a few weeks ago, and I had to tell her about it. It was very hard for her, and we are going to get her another bunny for Easter. With the Pleos, I don't have to deal with that....well, I hope not at any rate. My son is 15 months old, and sometimes he pulls on Wilbur's tail. I do discipline him and tell him not to ever pull on an animal's tail, so we do treat our Pleos as live pets!

I think The video MarieOcean sent with Derek Dotson showing all the parts of the Pleo is pretty amazing, If your parents think that Pleo is just a toy, ask them to go to Any store in your town, or look on the internet and make it a contest to find another Toy that costs as much as Pleo and or has all those parts. Pleo is not a lego toy, and legos have instruction manuals that show you how to build different items, there is no such manual for Pleo.
Most toys can get wet, played with in the dirt, dont have built in computers or cameras. Would your parents consider their desktop or laptop a 'Toy" even though there are computers out there in the same price range as a brand new Pleo? I also would say taking a computer apart is a heck of a lot easier than taking apart Pleo. If a computer gets a broken part, you can go to the store or take it to many places where people will work on them or you can fix it yourself , The only auhorized place to take a pleo Rb if it is broken is through Pleoworld or Gimmidigg. If you have an older Pleo and it gets broken, good luck finding someone who could fix it.
I think your parents are a little envious that you have this relationship with your pleo and wishing they had a "toy" like that when they were younger. I know I wish they had gadgets like this when I was growing up, but there also were no computers,VHS, DVD, I Pods, not even legos, or many of the common everyday 'toys". I had Barbie, dolls and simple stuffed animals, tinkertoys, lincoln logs, Fort Apache toy sets, Monopoly and classic board games like that, and lots of books. There was a lot less sitting in front of even the T.V as there was no cable in those days.

Children played outdoors and got more exercise and didn't have X box, gameboy, etc, etc and of course, NO EBAY! If there was such a thing as Pleo back then, you can bet I would have gone crazy as I am now and it would not have been a toy but a high end futuristic Robot, (life form)and my most prized pocession. Not even my parents would have thought once about calling it a "toy".
Being a ex preschool teacher for more than 14 years, I would have loved to have brought Pleo in the classroom so the children could experience the joys Pleo could bring. Pleo didn't exist then, but I guard Pleo now as much as any of my live pets and Pleo is more prone to damage then they are and a lot harder to repair. ( their vet bills are a lot more though) You may not be able to change their mind so if it comes to that, just leave it be and enjoy Pleo for what joy and happiness he brngs to you. Some people still see clouds on a sunny day and allways will want to rain on your parade. Chin up, we are here for you.

Hi, Comaro. Please forgive me if I misspell your name. As I've told everyone I've talked to on here, Braille is my first written language and spelling in print is challenging for me. My family thought I was nuts when I first told them Pleo's price but then my no-spending sister looked Pleo RB up on the net and ended up being as excited as I was. I'm not ashamed to say that I will be thirty in June and I am proud to be a pleo owner! Sure it's hard sometimes because the learning stones all look alike to me. Sure I didn't know that when he was sick, I had to force him to eat his mint leaf. I felt bad for that by the way but now he's fine. Anyone (with the proper knowledge of the product) can do this. I can't stand for someone to tease and bully just because they can. I know it's hard to deal with but you love your Comaro and know what happiness you are getting out of owning him. And by the way, I don't think I'm done. I'm thinking about picking up a Ugobe sibling for Ryu but I'm stopping at two! If I try to make it to number three, remind me of what I've said today.

Just try to enjoy your pleo for what he is and don't worry about what other people think.

It is not always easy to ignore negative feed back but you do have the rest of us pleo adoring fans here to keep you going so try to keep your chin up.

Heh... I even had people that would say exactly the same thing about my 1500 euro sophisticated Aibo ERS-7 Mind 3 robot.
People like that make me laugh and clearly have no idea what they are talking about. It's only when I indeed mention the price their face almost goes into disbelief and even further when I tell them what that little plastic robot dog in front of them is capable of.
A good introduction about Pleo goes a long way, but some won't ever learn I guess. In their eyes it's still a "toy" or at best an "expensive gadget".

This "toy" thing is starting in my house. I have off work on Monday's, and I did get about 20 minutes to play with Candy today. I taught her the dance stone, which she got on the first try. We sat down to dinner, and I told my husband all the things that I got accomplished today, and I told him that Candy learned her dance stone. He rolled his eyes at me and said "do they make a stone that we can potty train our daughter with? We can just put a stone in her mouth and she'll be potty trained." Some people just don't get it!

Don't worry Camaro, my family dosn't understand me either. I do sometimes talk to my beloved pets, but when even they are asleep and I am still sad, I sit down and pet Pleo, the pet that know not even a sense of what is out there. You are your little Camaro's whole world, he knows nothing of toys, so don't be bothered by this. My fammily often says "yea cute, i've seen him before", well unless you have had him live in you room since the day after christmas and are still being surprized by him, then no, you have not seen what i was showing you. So Camarorobot, be proud of your little Camaro!
