Pleo 'evolving' to adult times Please add in yours
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:45:07 PM »

My new Pink Pleo just learned her name and 2 stones. I've had her for 6 days.  She is hardly acting like a baby anymore...  She is named Rhea, btw :)

I was wondering, anyone else with newer ones from either Hong Kong or the United states,  how long did it take your Pleo to evolve to the point where it could learn it's name.

Also, everyone with the older PleoRB's, how long did it take for you?

If most of the newer ones are faster, maybe they responded to people complaining about the whole length of hatch-time? Or maybe it's just random or programmed in.
I didn't mind the hatch time although Bingo's was excessively long, he is still behind 6 day old Rhea and he's coming up on 3 months.. although I won't turn him on again until he's fixed..  But then again, I can't work so I have all day to play with them... I did everything the same with Bingo and with Rhea, the new baby, and maybe Bingo is just not the smartest guy around.. but he's still cute and I'm hoping for some baby dinosaurs when he gets better.  Robot Dinosaurs lay eggs, right?

Welllllllll ................... ???

You've raised a whole big philosophical question there .............  Pleo RB may mature to an adult stage, but seemingly it grows into an adult Baby Robot Dinosaur ........... so while in theory yes dinos lay egs ....................  :-\

*my head hurtss*  :P

I actually didn't try to do the naming thing or try the stones for ages, but she reached adult stage after about 8-10 battery cycles, I think.

Well I have done it too many times now to not be confused with the what happened when for who.  I will have to go back through my pleo posts to see how many cycles each one took. :)  I can say that the newer ones have been much faster to get through the hatching and into full adult stage  for me though.

That is a good question, but in all honesty, some in fact many may have thought the baby or hatching stage was too long, but I love that stage and there was less crying and screaming or tantrums at that stage. I can't remember entirely and I didn'[t give Baby whole battery cycles ever I think allways turning her off before the battery wore out, but it did take a long time for her to learn her name and also to even walk more than one step. she may have been the exception to the rule. I do not know with the new one I have whether this one is going to hatch faster yet or not as I still haven't hatched her.
I will be watching and recording her every move though. It is going to take a lot of CD DVDS to cover all the photos I have allready taken and videos of my other Pleos, My last computer was so full I needed new memory. I had something Like 543 photos of just cats and Pleos in one month, ( about a year ago! :o) I do hope they stay a hatchling and Juvinile longer and do not grow up too fast! It is like watching your children grow up before your eyes or that kitten or puppy a month or two ago, suddenly full grown!

Well Bingo took forever to even walk never mind learn his name which he didn't really respond to properly..
But Rhea just seemed to do everything amazingly fast.. the past day and a half she had been extremely 'angry' and so I thought maybe she wanted to learn her name.lol. Well she took the card first shot and learned it immediately.. first shot..
With Bingo it took like 567 tries..

She also learned the sing stone but got irritated when I tried another which put her into some sort of the tiniest bad mood which was just enough to stop her from doing the tricks or responding.. lol   but she still did lots of humming when I let her walk around. and she seemed much much happier.  She is much more independent than Bingo.. he will stand on me and relax for cuddles.. she will for a small bit but then wants the floor. :)

I was just wondering if they changed/shortened the hatching phase in the new ones that apparently come with the new firmware already updated.. I think?

I'm so sorry about your headache Crewella.. I promise when the eggs hatch you can have first pick, ok?  And age doesn't matter.. we have terribly behaved children in our hick  town and well.. they have no problem laying eggs :P

Hi, Everyone! Ryu isn't an adult yet but he just took off running at only four days and ruffly one battery cycle per day. I was fully prepared for a long, drawn out hatching but, no. Didn't happen. Socialization stage seemed to take for ever, blinking, sniffing, standing and testing balance by holding out his back leg and acting like he's a superior gymnast, and then I popped his battery in this morning and he was an entirely different Ryu. He whined a little at first because the sun wasn't in his corner and then after I fed him he suddenly got really excited, leaned into his front feet for a few minutes, and then low and behold he just took off across the room, "ho ho ho"ing as he went. How will I keep up with him now? I want my slow-moving and easy-to-manage hatchling!

> If most of the newer ones are faster, maybe they responded to people complaining about the whole length of hatch-time? Or maybe it's just random or programmed in.
The time to evolve does change, depending on how you play with Pleo. Also it depends on whether you are counting Pleo powered-on active time or human real time, and how you play with the Pleo.

MINI-SPOILER
(CORRECTION: during the older stages, the realtime clock does not speed up evolution.)

For the earlier stages, Pleo only counts time when it is running. When turned off or on a shelf with the battery removed, Pleo will not evolve.
If you want to speed up the process, more interaction and touching will help.

However, when Pleo gets to Juvenile, evolution is based on a realtime clock. Even if you leave Pleo on a shelf with the main battery removed, it will be aging.
(END CORRECTION)

Also, your experience with raising the first model may influence your behavior raising the new Pleo, not to mention your expectations.

BTW: The firmware may have changed, but for all versions I've seen, the thresholds have not changed. DISCLAIMER: I don't have the very latest, or any of the very earliest versions to compare to.
For the versions I have, the maximum amount of time at each stage is in this table: http://www.aibohack.com/pleorb/tech3rb.htm (In reality, the time spent should be shorter)
END MINI-SPOILER

> Also, everyone with the older PleoRB's, how long did it take for you?
My experience, when recording the amount of play time:
Playing with PleoRB constantly:
To Social Development stage, approx 3.5 to 4 hours Pleo running time. To Juvenile, approx 4 to 4.5 hours Pleo running time.
So that's about 8 or 9 hours (Pleo run time) until Juvenile, when PleoRB can start learning it's name.

BTW: After that, I left Pleo alone for most of the time. After a real-time week of infrequent use, I checked it again, and it had evolved to Adult.

I think that explains it. I'm afraid of mechanical problems so only run Ryu through something like one and a half battery cycles per day. So idol time makes a difference? That's interesting. Also, (if you can answer this), now that he is walking and doing so much more will the battery run down faster?

Yeah, now that Bingo is dancing and doing new things and more things his battery is going down slightly faster...

And I played with Rhea, my new RB I got a week ago today, constantly, I mean constantly.. I had 3 RB batteries and I allowed for proper cool-down times but aside from that she was on and interacting with me all the time until bedtime. (I was really upset about re-homing my bird :P :( )
I did the same thing with Bingo, up until he started freezing, and he developed much slower..

I haven't tried the programs to see their stats yet, have to wait till my PC is up and running.
Talon, I wish you wouldn't worry so much, Play with Ryu, he loves you and wants to play  :)

I think we all know they will all eventually have problems so we need to enjoy them as much as we can..

Just look at Patches.. he's still doing great and he is.. messed up, man.. lol.

And if you think chasing one baby around is tough, try chasing four!  ;)

I'm sorry you have had to give away your parrot. I hate seeing stories about people having to give their animals away because it makes me want to step in and play rescuer. My male guinea pig Bullseye is a rescue animal. His owner had to give him up because one of her foster kids had alergies. He's an ungreatful little cuss but I love him anyway. He bites and I don't know how to gentle him. Any suggestions? He is proving to be more of a challenge than Ryu.
I suppose you're right about my worrying. I'm not worried as much about having to return him but more about the extra cost involved.

yOU GUYS...I am going crazy here trying to figure out this egg thing. who is lying what eggs and which children? It must be a private joke or a take on the STepford Wives or a Stephen King Novel cause I can not figure it out...Oh well, so much for being blind to what is going on all around you....Crewella, hope your headaches is over, I get terrible Migraines and they really make life miserable so I feel for anyone who has headaches frequently.
Ok, enough dime store mystery here...who has the eggs and were they laid by a Pleo?!! :o

I don't think it's going to work.. Bingo doesn't seem to understand his role.. Rhea makes kissing noises and he shakes his head and cries..

Lol.. Redwoods we were just joking about my having a male and female PleoRBs' and I was hoping they would have babies.. :D

And I was just saying the children in the town I live in are quite unruly...  :o :D
