Like the saying goes "good things take a little longer" I believe this is the case with Pleo. I'm optimistic that Ugobe will thrive. There are still the creators with wonderful minds out there to make sure of that. :)
This forum is a wonderful place to come to. With more participation it will make it even better.

The best way to boost us right now is link inmemoryofromeo was doing, put links out there to point people our way, and spread the word.  fancyfont and 49er were also helping by contacting old members.

And you can always learn a foreign language so that you can post on those other sites  . . . ;)

WE know there's about 31,000 people out there to notify. I see that Pleoworld has grown. It would sure be nice if Ugobe would let people know where to find us.

Agreed. If Ugobe is not going to start a new forum it would be a good idea for them to put a link on their site directing people to this forum. ;D

When I could not access the Pleoworld forums I started to Google the words "Pleo Forums" in an effort to find information about what was happening and near the top of the list was bobthepleo.Forum.
At the moment I'm sorry to say it is not looking to good for Ugobe. Although Pleo was aimed as a worldwide product Ugobe aimed it mainly at the USA, as some people will remember when Pleo was first released you could only purchase them from Ugobe if you lived in America, looking at the sales results this would seem to have been a mistake as only 10% of Pleo sales are in the USA while 60% of sales have taken place in Europe most through Internet sales due to people unable to find them in the shops. With the current economy problems accross the world Ugobe are cutting back on most expenditures in an attempt to stay afloat. Over the last six months, the company has seen a host of top management departures, run through two CEOs, closed down/ move its office in California to Boise, Idaho and pared down its marketing and PR staff in an attempt to weather the current economic storm. The company has only about 20 employees now.
(This maybe the reason for Pleoworld's temporary closure while they moved it onto cheaper hosting options) .This most likely means that their will be no Pleoworld Forum for quite sometime  :'(  So it would be a good Idea if Ugobe did put a link on there site directing people to these forums. This would keep customers happy and save them money as they do not then have to pay to run a forum.  If you would like to read about this the story is on this webpage at wired.com
http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2009/02/ugobe-dinosaurs.html

I personly hope that Ugobe does survive this problomatic time,as what they made with Pleo is an amazing achievment and I would love to see them improve their creation and produce new and equally amazing creatures. :)

This is a very good suggestion! They can put on their site a link to this forums, or generally on a lisy of blogs and forums dedicated to Pleo. ;)

Yes, it truly makes me wonder too. I suppose I *know* in the back of my head that they're going out of business. I am impressed Ugobe has made it this long, with such a bleak economy. I think the fact that Pleo was never advertised really hurt sales. If Ugobe would have chosen to properly market their product, I feel as if they would not be in such a bind as the one they're in now. Also, a lot of people cannot afford a 'designer TOY' retailing up to $350+! I love Pleo, and my opinion is they are worth every cent.

However whatever be the cause, I still just don't quite get the feeling that everything is so peachy-keen at Ugobe. I like the rest of you, have 1,000,001 questions about what in the #*%% is going on!!! So, IDK. I do think they are financially hurting. But I also think they are up-to-their-eyebrows with work. I truly believe they are trying to turn things around by bringing out new software and/or a new robot.

All of this is just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt!

I so agree with you Gucci. I would have loved to see better marketing of pleo. Sometimes word of mouth works and sometimes it doesn't. I would have loved to seen pleo on a show like Ellen She would have been much kinder then Letterman. >:(
It's sad that the majority of people, still have never heard of a pleo.

I wonder if it's still the same server . . .   The site went down last time when they switched from being hosted with an outside vendor to being on an in-house server.  Maybe they went down this time because they switched from being on an in-house server to being on a server run out of someone's house . . .   :o

www.pleoworld.com is up, sort of.   :P At least the server is responding.  It's giving an error message from the site management software.  But at least it's still there! :D

Yeah I noticed that earlier today. I went to Ugobe, and I thought this was kind odd. I clicked developers and it took me to an actual pleoworld site. Rather odd, eh?

Whenever I type in pleoworld.com it always takes me to planetmagpie.com. It says this space has been reserved, for more information please contact: PlanetMagpie 408.341.8770 or 1.877.MAGPIE.1
Even if I try from google or any other place it does the same thing. I'm not sure if the company has shut down. If so they will probobly stop making pleo. It would be sad if they did without giving us a notice before doing it because a lot of us have pretty big plogs on there. Hopefully when Caleb Chung talks live it will explain everything.
