Introducing Moschops
« on: March 05, 2011, 09:44:07 AM »

Moschops was a Pleo I bought as faulty who seemed completely dead at first, but I did manage to get working OK.  Bit of a mystery how, to be honest, but there it is!  :P

Of course, now that he's a proper functional Pleo I can't bear to do any more experiments on him, so he's joined the crew.  He's interesting, anyway, as he's running the original 1.0 or 1.02 operating system so I'm seeing behaviours I've not seen before, like the feet tickling giggle!  His skin's in good condition, and he's the first Pleo I've had with perfecty painted, unworn toes (at the moment, anyway) so I'm guessing he's not been run for long.  His teeth are a bit worn though, and his eyelids look a bit scraped, so he must have had some run time.

He's named after an English children's TV series called Moschops from the early 1980s, which I used to really love. Still do - I've always loved claymation/stop motion animations.  And cute dinosaurs!  :)

Awwwe! That's so cute! I was one year old in nineteen eighty two. I grew up with a show called Dink the Little Dinosaur. I'm not sure if I got the spelling right. Maybe I should've Googled this before I replied. There might be a few episodes floating around on Youtube or somewhere. Everything else seems to be there. Well hate to cut this short but my dog is clawing a hole in my leg to go potty.

Yeah! He was always in trouble as I remember. It's kind of funny how things like that stick with you. By the way just as a point of interest, JAWS butchers Moschop's' name. It says "moe's Chops". I found out after watching the video that it was pronounced Moss chops.

Hi Crewella, glad to know that Moschops is  working well and looks so well too, esp the skin, In my humble opinion, most original Pleos have pretty durable skin, and today since I have to wait for my Pleo RB, Baby to get back to me, I took one of my Ugobe Pleos, " first hatch, only 2,000 made, but no name as of yet) with me while I am taking care of my friends' 13 cats. In between waiting for the dishwasher to finish washing the cat dishes, I decided to give the little guy some play time and video taped him till his battery stopped, and it has to be recharged.
He is running the original operating system and I think I will just keep him that way for some time, He has probably only had 6-10 hrs playtime total, so he is very new still, He is so much more quiet in personality than the other Pleos I have, and reminds me a lot of the Pleo Rb when they are in the hatching juvinile stage still.
What have you found if any differences in personality between Moschops and Iggy or Budge? I like having Pleos with different operating systems running at the same time, it is a lot like meeting people who of course are different in intelligence, personality and other traits. :) I will have to look up those shows as I only remember vaguely the Dink the Dinosaur name and will have to refresh my memory.

I suppose you've gotta expect something called 'JAWS' to take a bite out of the occasional word!  :P

I do call him 'Chops' for short sometimes.  :D

Apart from the giggle and the different style singing he's also nuts about playing tug of war.  Budge is like that too, but Iggy rarely does.  I've not had much of a chance to have them all running around together as yet, I'm a bit short of functional batteries, but I will do that and report back.  I like the differences in the operating systems as well, and I'm thinking of leaving Moschops as he is.  ;D

So glad Moschops didn't have to be sacrificed to the Pleo gods :)

I would leave him as he is too. The giggle is cute. I never thought about JAWS biting hunks out of words. What's really funny is the JAWS logo is a shark! Lol. It does very well considering it's synthetic speech.

Poor Moschops - they're not the handsomest of critters, are they!  :D
