Hello i just got my new used pleo i ordered from ebay.
Of course the battery needed charging so i took it out of pleo and put it in the charger. but it didnt light up. so i put some presser on it and then it turned red. i think theirs something wrong with the charger...it only works if i put pressure on it. so now i have a bottle of water on it so it will charge.

what's wrong with it?

oh and can i use a Sd card from my camera for my pleo to update him. or do i need a pleo only one?

It's an old charger, and the battery clearly isn't sitting in right. Make sure you hear two distinct clicks when you insert it, the first when you push the back down and the second when you push the front in. If having something sitting on it helps, that is fine

thanks for the answer.it wasnt fully in the charger hahah.  oh and do you know if i can use my SD card from my camera or do i have to buy a new one?

That's what I did, Superperson, I just deleted what was on there before I used it.  Try it, I think most SD cards are fine, though there are just a couple of high capacity ones that apparently just don't work, but won't hurt anything.

ok, for some reason I can't get the update to work.     I downloaded the 2.0 update and unzipped it. Then I put the unzipped folder in the empty SD card, and then I put it in my Pleo while he was on. He stopped moving, so I assumed he was "installing" it, but after about 5 minutes he still was sitting there     So, I tried again later but I put it in him while he was off, then turned him on, but still nothing happened.

I've been trying for the past 20 minutes trying a whole bunch of different ways and still nothing. I'm confused!!  O.o

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any advice would be very helpful

OK.  I guess the first thing is to check the SD card.  Have you tried running a skit on it to make sure it's working OK in the Pleo?  If not, delete the update and try a skit.  You need to make sure the files are opened directly onto the card and not in a folder.

What make and size SD card is it?

The SD card must be less than 2gig in size and must be a standard SD card. As Crewella said try out a skit. If you have used the SD card in a camera it will need to be reformatted. Reformat it as the FAT32 file system.

Phew, thanks IMR - I was trawling threads as I couldn''t remember what size SD cards did/didn't work!

My SD card is 4GB , so I don't know if that'll cause it to not work. And I tried reformatting it, but it's default setting was FAT32 so I'm not sure why it's not working. Also, how long does it take to "install" it? Is it instantly or does it take a few minutes?

4gig is too big, you will need to buy/borrow a smaller card.

I have a Venus fly trap called Fang... He's not really a vegetarian though What about bracken or fern, they would have eaten those once

I agree with IMR - enjoy the original OS for a little while before you update him.  It's interesting to see the differences.  

Bracken and Fern are nice, or how about Moss or Mossy?   Or one of the herbs?

Gumnut! That's adorable! I kind of like Bracken myself. It sounds sort of tough and... determined? I might use it for my pleo. I don't think it's a very pretty plant but it's very hardy. I would let his/her personality guide you in your choice for a name. I also have a question about an SD card as I am purchasing all the necessary extras to prepare for my hopeful new arrival. I already have a micro SD card adapter and I know my computer has a slot for one. I also know the card must be one gig or smaller. Are there any other specifications?
