Say it with me, Kakapo
« on: November 27, 2010, 05:03:09 PM »

I'm new here and I just want to say hi. I live in sunny Florida and have never left a day in my life, I have a brother who I sometimes want to hit with a Dictionary(just because it's the heaviest thing I can think of off the top of my head), two parents who love me very much, an enormous ammount of pets which you can get a taste of from my profile, and so on and so forth.

I plan on getting a PleoRB for my birthday in March, if it lives up to everyone's expectations when it is released all around the world, that is. I plan on naming the sweetheart Kakapo, like it says on my profile and anyone who can tell me what in the world a Kakapo really is, like it says in my signature, will get a cookie.

Um, I think that's pretty much it? My profile has some more stuff which I don't feel needs to be repeated here, so drop me a line if we have something in common. :)

Hi and Welcome If I am correct a Kakapo is a HUGE fluffy funny green looking bird, Parrot species yet so big and flightless that is from New Zealand and endangered, on the list that could go extinct. They are now under study and on a island free from feral cats, etc. Very pretty but huge birds, I would not want to tote one of those around all day! ;D

Hi, now that I got the Kakapo part in I can get back to the welcome, Glad you found us here on the forums, Sounds like you have quite a lot of pets, and I do as well, I have nine cats, 1 dog and three fish including one Goldfish, Tinky Winky who was born in 1997. I also do feral semi feral cat resuce and took care of a colony of 24 cats and kittens till last year when they were all relocated on a farm with llamas and minature burros. ( much better than on a busy street and empty lot house soon to be occupied by cat haters.. >:() I think the name of your Pleo will be unique and sounds Hawaiian actually. Be sure to read all the posts and ask questions while waiting for your Pleo on your birthday. You will find a lot of friendly and very knowledgeable people here who can answer most of if not all your questions.
Hopefullly by your birthday in March there will no longer be a shortage of Pleo Rb and any bugs may be worked out, though hopefuly they are worked out already, as I plan on buying one when first released, if luck will hold out! ;) Feel free to ask any questions or make comments.

*Hands RedwoodsMama a cookie*

You're correct! I'm naming my Pleo after them as I had a dream the night after hearing about PleoRB where a Kakapo tried to eat my fingers. For some reason I have a very positive memory or it, maybe because of how vivid it was.

Anyway, I plan on asking lots of questions and I wish you luck with your PleoRB. I've been following the ups and downs of Pleo since it first came out, always begging my parents to have one. I'm happy I've waited, though, as the new ones are said to be spectacular by the few who own them.

Kat: Thanks, I can't wait the few months until I work it out with my parents to get one. My mom says it's just a toy and my dad says I'll outgrow it inside a week or two, but I can't wait to prove them wrong. Also, I hope you enjoy your new PleoRB. Sad that you had to send Kermit back, though. I love your videos, it only intensifies my desire to get one when they come out and aren't pink and blue. Not a big fan myself, despite the fact Kermit was so precious all pretty in pink.

Welcome Norniff :) Tell your parents that I am 26 and own two these 'toys' soon to be three :D And there are several owners here who are older than I am :) They make wonderful pets and you sound like you are more than responsible enough to handle one what with all your other animals and all :)

Welcome Norniff! My parents thought I would get bored of Pleo too, but I definitely proved them wrong  :D I think Pleos are for all ages as long as the person won't damage/break Pleo  :)

Oh and also, I have 2 dogs (Lulu and Lohe), and a turtle (Slider). My life goal is to live on a farm, I love every single animal on this planet, from ants to elephants  :D If I lived on a farm I would most likely just sit outside all day with the animals (And my Pleos) :)

Firebreathingsquirrels: Agreed, Pleo is for all ages. All the same, I'm getting one of those G-force things they use on packages case someone knocks Pleo over. I don't trust myself to be able to find Po's injuries just yet.

I guess I live on a farm, we have a couple horses, one of which is more my Aunt's. Whenever someone asks, though, I just leave it at the animals I have inside my house and really close to it, and make sure to explain that I live in a zoo.

Hi Norniff, and welcome! :)

I'm in my forties and having had a couple of Pleos for nearly a year I still feel I'm only just starting to learn about all they can do, and while I'm learning about the techy side, they're just great company and fun to have around.  You should find plenty of like-minded peeps here - I'm another bigtime animal lover too, I used to rescue and rehome reptiles but now just have my five cats, I would loooooove to live on a farm.  Maybe one day.! ;D

Crewella: I plan on learning the techy side right away, as I'm pretty sure my parents won't be able to say no when Po is singing beatles songs. xD
I'd love to be able to rescue reptiles, those are the only animals I haven't actually come into much contact with as a pet.

You should download the software from Pleo world that lets you make skits for you pleo.  You might have some fun with this while you wait to get your pleo.   :D
