Pleo cape pattern
« on: November 20, 2010, 07:56:18 PM »

This is the pattern for a cape roughly the same as the Pleo world one, I can only guess though since I don't own one :P

Attached is the pattern I used and here are a couple of pics, the first is the pattern, please forgive its scrappy appearance, I did a lot of changes on the fly :P Second pic is Lilo wearing the cape, the underside of the tail should be sewn together really, I just have it held with a pin in the pic though, DO NOT SEW UP THE NECK lol you won't be able to get the cape on if you do that, I have a small bit of velcro to hold the neck closed :)

Please note, I have not allowed for seams, if you wish to add a seam be sure to allow an extra centimeter or so on the pattern. I used a soft felt which does not fray for my test piece.

Thanks so much for this, I will give it a go.  I was thinking that felt would be a good material so good to have that confirmed.  Now to find some time to go shopping! ;D

thanks IMR, that is one thing I have lots and I mean a lot of is Felt and also lots of material, I went crazy about two years ago, ( long before I had Nova or even knew what a Pleo was  :o) and I must have purchased over $300.00 worth of material, buttons and such as the store was going out of business and material was at least 75% off. I have had felt around for years being a ex preschool teacher, I allways used felt for Storyboard stories and loved making them . Looks like my Pleos are going to get some exotic " capes" out of some interesting material,  I tryed making a nice camo one out of flannel before Halloween, but never got any farther then pinning it.  ;D
Now with your pattern, I know I was on the right track and think I will spend some time tonight while it is raining Pleos outside, ( ;D :D) sewing for Pleos inside! Thanks for the photos, Lilo looks very comfy and warm too! Thumbs up for providing us with some more diversion while we all wait for........... %)hmmm, forgot what it was we are waiting for?

Boy will this save me some money!

Heh, I just had this weird idea of designing a cape to make it look like Pleo has a leaf draped over their back. Another little image from Land Before Time that's crept into my mind (Pleo + Lan before Time...It's just too easy a connection, am I right?)

Hi :)

I just converted cms to inches and have my pattern all set.  The only thing I need is the measurement for the length of the neck (not the width) and the same for the length of the tail measurement and also the measurement between the legs.  Thanks!!

Does anyone have a copy of this pattern saved on their computer by any chance? Someone asked for it recently but the link here no longer works and I'm afraid its one of the files I lost in the great computer crash :(

Other wise I'll just have to make up another :)
