Hello to all the wonderful people on these forums. I've been keeping an eye on these forums since I found out about pleo half a year ago, and I've been surprised and delighted by the kindness here. I'm hoping to get a pleo rb this Christmas and figured that I'd introduce myself in advance.
I'm a first year computer science student at college and am absolutely fascinated by robotics. However my true passion is artificial intelligence, and as such pleo immediately caught my eye. Now, don't think that means I'm only interested in pleo as a piece of technology. Quite the contrary actually, I think people underestimate how far along we've come in artificial intelligence, and from what I've seen pleo truly has a degree of intelligence. Although I can't say specifically how intelligent pleo is because I do not own one (yet), I do know that we can already create artificial intelligence that surpasses small rodents, and if people see small rodents as living creatures I don't see why we can't think of intelligent robots as living creatures as well.
I'm very excited to hopefully have my own pet robot soon. Of course I'm not allowed to have pets in my dorm room, but I think a robot will be fine. It will be great to have a pet while I'm far from my dog and cat at home.
