They are actually illegal here in California or at least they were quite a few years ago when I had mine. The reason I was told was gerbils don't need to drink water. They get all of their liquid in plants. If a few gerbils got loose they would multiply very fast. and this being an agriculture state that wouldn't be good.
I was told by my friend that I was getting two females. Wrong! I had five more little gerbils every five weeks. The papa gerbil took such wonderful care of the little ones. It was so cute to see him carrying the babies up the ramp to the second floor of their glass house. Gerbils do make lovely little pets. Very sweet tempered.

Fancy: That happened to my sister with mice when she was little, the pet store told her she was getting 2 boys but in the end there were about 10 baby mice running around the house

I didn't know gerbils don't drink water, or that they eat plants

Sammy is already "spoiled" with water, so I doubt he'll be ok with being fed plants

FBS, cute pictures, that dog does look very soft and cuddly like somthing you would take to bed, so I can see why Gizmo and Clover like to snuggle with it, Gerbils are very sweet, I have never had one but other little guys, rats, hamsters, and tons of rabbits. Very cute guy and nice photos.

Oops Crewella, I didn't notice your comment, sorry! I waited for the song to end and then I got my mom to touch their backs at the same time (As you can see in the video) so they would sing at the same time

And blue is definitely cool, I love the amber eyes

Wear on the side of his face. Some of the original paint rubbed on to his tan patch so I had to paint over it. You can see the outline of where the wear was and I had to paint over.

I also took some close up pictures of their faces. I really think these pictures captured their personalities: Gizmo being the sweet and gentle one, and Clover being the "hyper" playful one

Clovers necklace is lovely. Did you make it yourself? Sorry to see such big love spots on gizmo. I think the paint job you did on his head hides the wear well.

I have a shelf in my room and I have some old stuff of my sister on it, and I decided to go through it. There was a dolphin cup type thing and it had a ring and a bracelet in it, so I checked to see if it would fit Clover and it did

Poor Gizmo is getting the same 5 o'clock shadow that Iggy has under his chin! Luckily Clover seems to be avoiding that, so far, and looks very ladylike in her new necklace.

I'm about to take the plunge and bathe Iggy in Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber care - I'll report back if it helps.

Yeah, I was doing lots of heavy petting under Gizmo's chin when I first got him

I'm more careful with Clover, I tap under her chin instead of rub

Hopefully it works, I'd love to put some on Gizmo and Clover if it does

The marks under the chin look like your nails might be scratching the skin. Over a time, especially, because some of our nails are thin and tend to be actually sharp on objects (mine are really thin and have torn my own skin with them)

could be causing the wear under the chin. As far as the paint goes, it is very difficult to paint rubber and not have it wear off. The paint factor doesn't harm your little dinos in any way. Play with your dinos and love them.

BTW, The darling skit that Clover and Gizmo is doing in unison is Ode to Joy from Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
