Just got my first pleo from ebay. The story is me looking for some kind of robot to do some hacking with, so I setup a load of snipes and Pleo beat the rs media and meccano spykee..........

 Welcome aboard Gareth, Hey, join the Pleo Snipe club!I too have sniped a Pleo, or at least I think I did, I put in a bid for my last pleo, and did not expect to win it and because it was at the last minute, I won the Pleo, or perhaps I just had the right bid that someone was willing to pay, For whatever reason, I don[t care, I am just happy that I now own two pleos, even it one is " sort of hidden", he/she is hidden away till this comming Christmas or another oportune moment when I can pretend I got it as a gift from one of my friends..( another story...LOL)
 Anyway, glad you found this forum, and it will be interesting to see what type of programming you come up with, I never thought of someone " hacking" into a Pleo, so that is sort of a scary and strange but interesting idea, can't wait to see what it is you are going to do......( just please do not hack into my Nova over the internet Please! :obesides, she is not a perfect model, too many physical flaws to make it worth your while....

When I say "hacking", it generally means "doing cool stuff with code"

Right now i'm looking into first getting myself a proper build and debug environment setup in linux, a nice file explorer and other stuff combined with the usual pleo monitor terminal and a better toolset for compiling pleo apps. That comes first before any serious coding for pleo itself.

Welcome to the forums! Always glad to have newbies. Please don't be frightened, many of know do not know enough about the tech and mechanic side of Pleo. Perhaps some of our more familiar members might be able to help you better. Perhaps you outbid me on Ebay!

new pleo owner here too , my pleo arrived today brand new in box and £80 from ebay delivery included , just waiting on the battery to fully charge so i can boot pleo up . When i say new i am not really a new owner just a new owner to announce here lol , i had a pleo from when they were first released unfortunately the neck went on him just when ugobe went down , so i tried to fix my self which i could not and in the process voided my warranty :-(

Congrats on getting a Pleo. Can't wait to hear some of the things you can get him/her to do. I'm a technical dunce and only recently learned the difference between bbcode and html (lol), so I'm always impressed by some of the things people can do.
