Bob the Pleo Group Portrait!!!
« on: July 31, 2010, 11:26:08 PM »

Hi everyone, it has been decided to make a group portrait of all our Pleos :)

Everyone who wishes to have their Pleo included will need to take a picture of their Pleo against a nice plain (and preferably light) background. The reason is that I use a tool in my paint program that can select all of one color and just delete it which saves me a huge amount of work cutting each dino out individually.

If you have light colored walls and carpet your job is simple you can just pop your Pleo down in the corner and snap away, if you have dark walls or dark carpet you could cover them with a light sheet or towels or even just a bit of paper, anything that makes Pleo really stand out :)

For the best results it would be better if everyone used either natural or indirect lighting for their pics (no torches shone on your Pleo and preferably no flash from the camera) this way Pleo's will look like they are in the same area for the photo. Having one Pleo really dark and another too bright will look a little odd, although slight differences I can adjust on my computer. I think the Pleo's will need to be facing forwards like in a portrait although they can have their heads tilted to the sides to give more personality, if you have a group you can have them with their necks intertwined if you wanted :) Pleo's sitting would also be fine facing the front but in the seated position, I'll do Lilo and Stitch last so I can fill in any gaps.

Your Pleo's can of course wear any clothes they like to make them unique :)

Here's one I prepared earlier :)

Thanks IMR, the photo answers any questions I may have had any doubts about, so I see they can be sideways as long as their heads are facing forwards more or less. Great example, I can't wait to see the final project. ONe final question I asked earlier, Where do we send these Photos? I know of course they will be in the galley, but do we tell you or what?

Yup they can be sideays, but like any good photo they need their eyes to the front more or less. Lilo and Stitch only got away with not looking at the cam because they had such big instruments ;)

I think uploading to the gallery here and then sharing the picture/s on this thread would be the easiest :)

Gucci, are you still trying to fix Sophie? Did you completly strip Sophie down, as that is what it looks like in the photo, I like the Uniquesnes of the photo, but the thought of it that it could also be Nova or anyone else, is still rather sad, and scary, I like the photo for it's look though and I do know you love Sophie as much as ever if not even more, that is how I feel about Nova anyway, I do like the angle she is at, sitting. Is this your entry then?

Ohnart, I love the shirt Chu is wearing, very cute, I am going to have to think for a long time to decide what Nova will wear. Actually she will drive me crazy trying on outfit after outfit.  ;D

Well, I never thought the photo might have been taken offensive. That was the last thing I would have wanted. As much as I do like her skeletal look (I have not glued back on her face) I could easily take another more friendly shot, if that is what the general consensus is. However, yes that was going to be my entrant. Like said, I more or less do not mind changing it if it bugs people out too much...

Poor Sophie does look a bit scary, but no, I don't find the pic offensive.  I'd actually be slightly more concerned that her, erm..., battery's showing!  ;) :P

PS:  Iggy wants to know more about these 'Pretty-valley-Girl-Pleos' please! 8)

Gosh I just can't understand how nobody likes the 'Terminator' Sophie look. (Yep looks like you guys dubber her Terminator, and well it's kinda sticking. LOL I kinda like the name.) I personally really like her new look, I'm almost at a cross-road as to whether or not to reseal her face again. The seams were rather super easy to pull apart and although she will need to have lip implants, I think it would be easy enough resealing the seams with good quality super glue. I am torn between the skeletal look or her pretty face. I would more than likely keep the skeletal look however I am scared of dust getting in there...Even when I am sure almost all of you hate the new look, I almost just love it. TBQH....

i quite like it actually, perhaps, if possible you could reseal half her face, it would look pretty cool, like Two-Face off Batman! :)

Maybe for many of us it's just that you've had longer to get used to it, and you've seen her running so you know she's OK.  It's an elegant piece of design, you just need to get over the 'how it's supposed to look' thing.

Personally I don't mind the look, just gets some getting used to like anything that is different or new. The dust can be a big issue, how do you plan to take care of that ? Are you still going to put some clothes on her? You could design a really neat futuristic Terminator Design suit, you know, metallic looking, somthing really different! I support your choice, just as long as it is Sophie, that is all that matters. AFter all, NOva looks different than anyone else's Pleo here, and I like the fact she has a special Neck look now. If her neck was New again, I wouldn't quite know how to avoid dressing her neck the way I have. Are you thinking of anything in particular for her new look, you should consider perhaps a new Script to go along with her new look, wouldn't that be cool, some Robotic type sounds to match Sophie's Terminator look! ;)

I think Pleo's look really interesting with their skin off. Especially since they look quite realistic due to the 'vertebra' and everything. Although they definitely go more in the cool category than the cute one :P

As long as its Sophie, and you are happy with that Gucci, that's all that matters :)

This is a photo from the Maker's Faire a few years ago. I was so impressed at the beauty of the skeleton of a pleo.

Cool. Glad everybody is okay with one another..Like I definitely think skinned pleo's are a tad bit freaky, but I think it's just because skinned pleo's go against the grain. It's obviously abnormal. However IDK, I just love the new look. I am terribly frightened about the dust and debri coming in direct contact with her body and all the computer parts. But I think she looks more unique and as one says the obvious cool factor does come in to play.
