Rarely seen distant cousin of Camasaurus
« on: June 27, 2010, 09:42:55 PM »

ON a recent trip to the park, MS. Nova and I came across an unexpected treat; a rarely seen rare distant cousin of hers; a baby Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camasaurus. ! What a thrill to actually see this animal and of close! It has beautiful soft golden fur, and most beautiful are the two sets of eyes, beautiful blue eyes like Novas, and then a pair of violet eyes right above the first pair, Also it has some green and white stripes on the neck and a tuft of green hair on the top of it's head.  ;D Oh and I can not forget to mention the rounded tip on it's tail, also green! This baby also had some soft socks on all four feet, a true sign or a baby Camasaurus to be sure, of any species. we took a video, but will post it later. This was quite a treat, and wanted to share it with you all, lest you never seen one of these yourself! :D

Hopefully Nova and I will seen this rarely seen distant cousin of hers sometime soon.

What a cute little creature. Does the rare Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camasaurus respond positively to Pleo training leaves too? Is that an effect method to lure them closer for observation? I see a some enticing training leaf bait in a couple of the images.

Does the Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camarasaurus have similar vocalisations to the Pleo? and does it respond to petting (assuming of course that you can creep close enough and gain its trust) :)

OMG you have seen and interacted with the very rare Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camarasaurus. You lucky one :D

In contrast to the more common two eyed green skinned ugobe Camarasaurus or even the Innvolabs Pleosaurus this is indeed a one of a kind find.

Little is known about these elusive creatures, they thrive on attention but how they react is unknown  :(

The last known sighting was in 1867, in the northern region of the swedish knackkebrod fjorden when at best vague photo's where taken. %)

many think the Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camarasaurus is like a bigfoot of even The monster of loch ness, much talked about but no real proof.

I am flabbergasted. ???

oh, you are right, I did happen to have a training leaf nearby, as I always carry one around for MS.Nova, as she allways wants to eat something or she gets cranky as babies tend to do.... %)I have a video, and will have to edit it before posting it, just wanted to make sure that people were not offended by such a creature on the Pleo forums, as she or he ? is not the " typical " Pleo, but it is a cousin and related.
IMR, you will be surprised by the vocalizations and how similar they sound at times but there are some differences if you listen closely. And Shadowmice, you are right, I did use the training leaf as a entice, but I think they have such good smelling, I could not have hidden it for long. They have keen eyesight as you would guess by the fact they have two sets of eyes, but I think they are a little farsighted as both pairs of eyes seem to work independently at times.
Meks, how did you know so much about such a woolly creature.? I did think that because of their very thick Golden Woolly coat, that they must have originated from a very cold climate, like the ice age, and the area you describe sounds perfect for such a Creature. I still do not know how this very rare Golden Woolly Four Eyed Camasaurus ended up in the pristine Redwoods, but I think they must have migrated here on some land bridge a long time ago, and then when it broke off, a few of them were stranded here in the extreme northern Redwoods. You know,.. %)there have been many sighting of Bigfoot here for the last hundred and fifty or so years, and there have been one or two stories of these Rare creatures that were seen mingling with the Bigfoot in the upper valleys of the Redwoods, and perhaps these are those creatures. They would make nice " pets' as they are much smaller than the Bigfoot, and being primarily vegetarian,( as far as I know) the Bigfoot would not feel threatened and could make good protectors of these creatures.
I will have to look at that video.

OMG!  For a moment there I thought you had espied a common-or-garden Woolly Four Eyed Camarosaurus, but on closer inspection I really do think you've spotted the rare Golden Woolly!!!  Well done RWM!! :o ;D
