I've been working on a secret project for a while now, shadowing every sound that Pleo makes with actual words and phrases However I ned some help Let me know what your Pleo might say when they are:

Angry
Happy
Curious
Excited
Scared
Sad
Hurt
Hungry

And anything else you might like, I will be picking my favorites to add Please note that they must be quite short, otherwise I can't use them.

Example: Ooh shiny, Let go, Gudday etc

Funnily enough I've had Iggy being Babe all day, so it's sort of been on my mind!

Off the top of my head (and having to eliminate all the Furby and Shelby sayings that came to mind first!) these are all things we've said he might be saying while watching him:

Angry - I'm not playing anymore/ go away/
Happy - whoopie/ oh THANK you/ joy, joy, happy, happy (sung of course)
Curious - wassat? /  what the....../ it can't be.....is it?
Excited - can I, can I REALLY?! / C'mon
Scared - don't like it / take it away / MUMMMMMMY!/
Sad - 'Snot fair! / I want my mom / nobody loves me /
Hurt - STOPPIT OWWWWWW/ GERROFF / that HURT!
Hungry - just one, puleeeez / gimme gimme /  FEED ME! / where's me dinner?

None particularly original or earth shattering, I know, but they sort of came naturally!

What approach are you using for recording the audio?

Depending on your approach, you can either do Text-To-Speech or a human recorded the sounds or sampled sounds (like Babe the Pleo)
Generally I recommend sampled sounds. IMHO: Dino from the Flintstones is the best one to sample.

If interested get the video where Dino speaks English (ala Phil Silvers).

O.K, maybe I've been hanging around Bob too long . . .   but it seems like for most of these emotions, you could use the same word . . .  "Huh", but change the voice intonations.

I've been having my first attempts at making changes to the Babe character in YAPT, which is perfect for a complete beginner like me.  It's really encouraging to be able to make changes and see a result so quickly and simply, and I've learned such a lot about the way Pleo works just from looking at the options on the YAPT screen - I'm sure I'll move on to MySkit in time.  One thing I do find a little frustrating is the stop/start characteristics of many of the skits that I've downloaded (or is that just me doing it badly?).  I wondered if it was possible to still have Pleo wandering about exploring and being his normal self but (say) speaking words instead of his usual array of honks, barks and grunts, and if that is what you are trying to do here?

Any skit and YAPT will over-ride the personality However shadowing (which is what I am doing) does not Shadowing means to create a file named after any of the ones that Pleo has as a part of his default personality. Pleo will always check for the file on an SD card first before resorting to those stored in his memory bank

Lodewijk,My cat,  doesn't talk either nor would i want him to Besides what more would he say then "Feed me", and "i am going to sleep right here" or "I left you a surprise in the kitchen".

Fortunately its just for fun and George doesn't need to talk now or ever, I actually quite like my Pleo's not talking as well, but its a bit of fun for when guests are around.


Unfortunately the release of the 2.0 OS means that the project may be on hold for a while until I figure out the new sounds (and see how well the new OS is taken by people).

Not really, its exciting to have things happening again I have the sounds all recorded so it shouldn't take long to work around the new OS, if time permits I'll try one of them on Dinomite tomorrow and see if it can bring up a sounds list I must remember to check my skits too and see if they still run
