Neck seems to favour the Right side only
« on: December 11, 2009, 07:47:37 PM »

I'm not sure if this is a neck problem - I don't want it to be, but maybe it is.

My Pleo seems to favour the right hand side.  He will look to the right, and can then turn his head back to the centre.  This shows that he can move his head leftwards, BUT he never moves it left of centre.  It is either all the way right, or near the centre.  Weird.  I'm sure he wants to look left!

After reading some advice about gently trying to coax a stuck neck back into position, I noticed that if I pushed his head to the left, it would go left, after a 'clicking' sound was heard.  It will click several times as it moves all the way to the left.  At that point the neck is floppy left/right, but after I turn him on again, he just goes back to the same behaviour, moving to the right, to the centre, but never to the left.

I hope someone has some simple advice that will work for my new little Pleo :(

You can use DimoMITE to force the head to move left and see if the pleo is able.  There are also some skits you can put on an SD card that force the head to the left.  Either of these would at least determine if the head can move . .

Mweed is right, a skit is the fastest and least technical way to find out if anything is wrong movement wise. Stitch went through a period of three battery charges with a problem like that before he sorted himself out and I've never had a problem since.

That happened to Olympia once (when she was still alive), but a quick on-and-off fixed that all up.  But I would definitely be worried about the clicking sound. Was it like a gear or a cable or a motor or what?

And....

Is it still going on?

Macon and Yasmin have both done this, but they fixed themselves in no time.
