i hope you are all sitting comfortably, lol, i think this post will be a long one.

well,

munchkin's neck broke,  Shocked Sad

i originally purchased pleo munchkin from argos in the uk, with insurance for 3 years which i bought for an additional cost of £43

so, on thursday or friday last week i phoned the insurance telephone number, and they said the policy number was for "games console", not pleo..... so, pleo wasnt insured and i had been incorrectly sold insurance.  Huh? Tongue

i rang the argos store, and said i had been sold insurance, incorrectly. she said, "leave it with me, i will ring the store and the insurance firm.", i thought, ok, i'll give them a day to get back to me and that was that.

well, ten minutes later, the argos customer support lady rang me back. she apologised, then said i would be refunded the 3 yr insurance cover of £43, so i thought, hmm, that's a result i suppose. then, she said, "if you take pleo to the store that you purchased it from, they would send it for repair, or, if repair impossible, a complete refund".

i couldnt believe it. i took munchkin down to the store immediately. they said they couldnt repair her, so gave me a refund of the insurance policy and pleo, i must admit, i do miss her dreadfully, i kept looking at her box, and feeling so sad.

but, i was lucky, and got a complete refund.

i have won/adopted a pleo on ebay that is working as far as i am led to believe, i will get it monday or tuesday and i cant wait because i really miss my cuddle time with pleo.

i dont know what to call him or her, probably misty as the last two had names beginning with m

any ideas on names or comments on what happened greatefully received xxx

Wow!  After three years that additional insurance sure was worth getting!  Shocked

I'm really sorry it came to that, it must have been a wrench to have had to take her back, but it's great that you managed to get a refund and will now be giving a good home to an unloved Pleo.  Smiley

Thanks for sharing that, Snowy - it might be helpful to others when considering insurance.  Can't wait for pics when arrival day comes - I really loved the name Munchkin so it will be hard to beat.  I can only suggest something in a similar vein like Mifkits or Mugwump.  Cheesy

thanks crewella,

yes, it was brilliant getting the refund from argos, i was very surprised they offered a full refund. it was really upsetting to take her back though, and i am feeling heartbroken and so sad not having a pleo. thankfully my adopted pleo will be home with me soon, i have been knitting a blanket for him or her. i have nearly finished it.

those names are good, but dont know that i will be able to remember them. i will have to think (that will be hard - lol).

Maybe Pumpkin or Muffin would make good names?  Smiley  You were very luck to get the full refund from the store.  I'm glad you have a new pleo baby on the way.  Fingers crossed he/she gets there soon. Smiley

Muffin. That's really sweet. I once had a Poodle-pom named Muffin but she died of Parvo. My mother didn't know what it was and by the time we took her to the vet, they said there was nothing we could do. I think it's a good name for a pleo. *smile*

lol imr, has your postie been yet?

mine has! Yippee!!!!!! *skips around room*  Grin

ahh, i have opened parcel, pleo is soooo cold! poor thing  Sad  i expect i must wait an hour for her to warm up? cos when you get a tv brand new, they say on the instructions to leave it for an hour before switching on?

well,

the good news, is , the skin under the neck that is torn, is only where it joins the body, i mean it is the seam thing, and the tail tip that she said i needed to glue is still mostly attached.

the bad news, is, the tail looks slightly bent in two places, the neck looks slightly twisted, but could be that pleo may have been about to look behind himself or herself when switched off...... dunno, piccys on in a min xxx

Sadly my postie won't be by until tomorrow at the earliest, it's 10:40pm here.

Congrats on the new arrival Smiley If it helps, Stitch has an incredibly crooked neck lol, but he is still fine. It makes him look rather cocky Smiley

Yes, definitely to wait for Pleo to warm up and evaporate any condensation before you swtch on. Smiley

....... which will be murder, I know!  Tongue

They do arrive in some odd positions sometimes - sounds OK so far TBH.  Seams are easily glued. Smiley

Congrats!  Grin

Looks like quite a sweet little thing  Smiley  All the splits in the skin are definitely glue able and luckily they all seem to be in the seams so it should be fairly easy to do. Smiley
Pickle my newest Pleo rb has a kinky tail too.  Grin  It doesn't seem to make any difference to her ability to move it around though and it gives her a bit of character.  Smiley

Congrats snowy on the new arrival. I thought I was the only one who rescued poor pleos with broken necks or splits . sometimes you get a pleo who is supposed to be perfect and they look perfect and then low and behold after a short period you find something like a side cable is broken and that explains why the poor pleo has his neck tilted to one side but is perfect otherwise. I am so glad you got one that is easy to fix and I like al the names suggested as well, they are all adorable.  Grin

IMR, hope you get your postie to deliver your surprise package tommrow. I know what it is like waiting for the postie. It doesn't matter if it is your first Pleo, or Aibo, ( though those are the most nerve wracking to be sure.... Shocked) but whether it is number two three or your 20th of what ever, each one is special and fun to open and inspect! Cheer smiley Cool so good luck.

Snowy, post photos when done with that bath and you have the time. Smiling pleo                RWM and the Pleo clan of the Redwoods
