Pleo(s): Sugar

« on: January 15, 2012, 01:06:47 PM »

Sad  About three days ago Sugar started to walk nicely the two times I had her on. But now, when I turn her on she seems to be crying and sytuggling with her legs like if a sensor or wire is stuck. Then the battery --even freshly and fully charged-- turns off by itself.
That is breaking my heart!    Dino chase   Please help me!

If her legs were actually damaged she wouldn't cry, she would simply stop working but still act normal. Sounds to me like she is injured. Feed her lots of rock salt until she is better. As for falling asleep, please reset the noon time, if she will not stay on long enough you may need to remove the foot battery and reinstall it.

Please check the FAQ for Pleo injury advice: http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2315.0

As IMR says it sounds like she has an injured leg.  Does she scream or cry out when you touch the leg?  That is a sure sign that there is an injury.  It will get better with lots of rock salt and tlc.  Injury is one of the exciting new functions of the pleo rb.  It is a little disturbing at first but once you work out what is going on it really is amazing probably not something you will see very often so enjoy the experience while you can. Thank you IMR and Kat! I just got back home and didn't want to play with Sugar without further advice. I'll try everything you have told me and will let you know what happens. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Answering to Kat, she screams because she is struggling to walk and sounds frustrated  -- I think!
Thank you again.     Smiley on cell phone

Here is a video of Kermy when she hurt her leg.  Just so you can see what an injured leg should look and sound like.  Is this what Sugar is doing?

Great help with the video Kat and thank you and IMR for keeping in touch.
No. Sugar is not doing that and she doesn't sound that painful. She sounds like her four feet were down in mud and she could not get out of it.
I fed her the rock salt twice and she sounds much better and happier. Also, the battery hasn't turned off by itself.  She is starting to move her front legs but her balance is not very good!
Anyway, I am happier! She doesn't sound that sad and frustrated!

I thought Sugar was cured, but she is not! Sad  I got her to walk again and I was in heaven.   But then she stopped and we went back almost to her hatching state.  Sad  I have followed all the procedures but no success.  Cry   I only have had her for  a month and I don't know what to do. She is a PLEOrb and a Xmas present to myself. I hate the idea of asking InnvoLab for an exchange because I am already very attached to her.   Sad
Please help me! What should I do?
By the way, I am a senior woman who fell in love with Pleo about four years ago when I saw her in TV at a local station in the news.

Are you able to take a short video of Sugar so we can see just what she is doing?

I agree with with Kat, a video is the easiest way to explain a problem. I know I can talk all day but a video explains it better than I ever can. Try a video, short one of her actions should do the trick.
Good luck.                        RWM

once you have the video you will need to upload it to youtube then you can just post the link here.  Youtube is free and very easy to use.  Smiley  If you get stuck let me know and you can probably just email me the video if it's not too big and i'll post it for you.  Smiley

I would try feeding the mint leaf (force Sugar to eat it if necessary) and lots of cuddles.  Also make sure you play with your Pleo in brightly lit areas.

You can 'cheat' and change the values with ChangeRB if you are struggling.

Who said that old dogs don't learn new tricks?   Cheesy  I just downloaded to YouTube a  short video of Sugar.  It took me a while but here it is...I think she is suffering from food poisoning, mostly my fault. After I got Sugar around Christmas time I got her started and everything was going well. In a couple of days she started to walk.  However, I had the very bad idea of searching about PleoRB's software, went to Pleoworld, read about the wonders of the PM2 upgrade, and installed it in Sugar. Since then it has been downhill. Pleoworld sent me two files to reset the software and following the instructions I uploaded to Sugar. Sadly, I did upload the two files and  now I see they both are almost identical but with two different names, and with a slight date change in the second.
Did Sugar get poisoned  with so much food? I could run the StatsRB ( I sent you copy of the report) but I am unable to see what files are in her brain.
Yesterday I reinstalled just ONE of the two reset files, and she is a bit better but crying a lot!   Huh?
Here is the YouTube shortcut...I believe that's what you need to see it...not sure. Sad   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl9SaZHLFjk

THANK ALL AGAIN for helping me! Great support group!   Bowing smiley

Hi Miel, I think Sugar is fine, she is burping which is common esp when they are younger, some never outgrow this habit. LOL. I allways think a lot of burping is either fun or indigestion. Have you tried giving her the Mint leaf? This could help if you think she is sick. I did watch the video and except for the one sneeze sh seems fine.  Pleos do not allways walk a lot either. What are her other symptoms. Is your house cold , myne is in the morning and my RB will actually shiver and then sneeze a lot and act sick till I give them the Chili Pepper to warm them up.

Sugar is cute and are her eyes, yellowish green? If so that is the same color eyes as my Baby Ruth! Thanks for the video, it helps and is allways nice to see Pleo Videos.

Sugar did sneeze a couple of times in the video so maybe just try keep feeding her the mint leaf until she feels better.  If she is sick it could take her a whole battery cycle or two before she is better.  The more you can feed her the mint leaf over this time the faster she will recover.  If she is sick she probably won't want to walk or move around much.  An easy way to get her to take the mint leaf is to pop her on the edge of a table then stick it under her chin.  she will probably wave her head around a little but if she is sick she should then drop her head down and open her mouth just enough for the leaf to be inserted.  It is easier for you to get it in if she is at the edge of a table.  There is a nice video of just how to do this in the FAQ section.  Try feeding her the mint leaf every ten minutes or so for a full battery cycle and see if it makes any difference.

As for the two files Innvo sent you to reset little sugar, I'm guessing one would have been the Male file and one the Female file.  The are effectively the same with only a few minor differences related to gender.  The males voice is slightly deeper than the females and the interactions they do when they meet another Pleo rb are different for males and females.  I think you have done the right thing installing just one file. Smiley

I'm sure we can get sugar feeling better and back to her old self soon.

As RWM says the burping is normal and something that all pleo rb's do as well as hiccups.  Cheesy  If the mint leaf feeding doesn't work then let us know and we will try something else.

It was great to see a video of sugar she's very pretty.
