Pleo(s): Hooter

« on: September 17, 2011, 08:49:24 PM »

Poor Hooter is only a few days old but he seems to be hurt.  I never saw him get injured but he holds up his foot constantly.  It gets so hot I shut him off for time periods. when hes off I straighten it out, but when I turn him on he holds it up again. I give him rock salt and mint leaves and plenty of love but hes not better and it has been days. I could just cry.  Could anyone help me.

A short video of him would really help us work out what is going on with him and how best to help.  Does he scream or bellow when you touch the leg?  and does he whimper a lot?
Keep feeding him the rock salt as many times as you can each battery cycle.  If it is an injured leg then the rock salt and lots of love and a couple of battery cycles should fix it.
I do think a video will help us work out what is going on though. Hershey's hug

Its kinda like Kermy but Hooter will not take his rock salt.  At ALL!  His leg gets so hot it has got to b doing him harm.  I decided to give up and call tech support
They sent me files to reboot poor Hooter. So downloaded the files v191_v115 & v191_v125 put in the micro card. My husband says the files are identical. Anyway Hooter did not reboot.  I dony know what the problem is I may have to send him back if nothing works

The wire may be shorting out which might cause the heat.

When you offer hooter the rock salt does he dip his head straight down, or does he turn it away? If you check the RB FAQ ti demonstrates the easiest way to feed the rock salt. http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php?topic=2315.0

The two files they sent might be one for 'Male' RBs and one for 'Female'?  So you'd only need one or the other?  Does that make sense to anyone else?

Yes I think you may be right Crewella.  One would be the female version and one the male.  Just try putting one of the files ont he sd card then put it into the pleo with a fully charged battery.  Turn the pleo on and wait.  It will take about 2 or 3 miniutes for the update to be completed and pleo should make a noise to let you know the update is done.  You can then turn pleo off, pull out the sd card then turn the pleo back on and play as per normal.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure you are looking at a problem that can be fixed by resetting the software, unfortunately I would say you have a hardware issue.

If the leg is still running hot then I would have to agree with IMR.  It does sound like a hardware issue to me too. Hershey's hug
