Yay i just received a email from Innvo here is what it said ;

Confirmed that the Merlin edition Pleo's were made in year of 2011 with newer improved skin; neck; tail cables and battery.

So will be purchasing a Merlin edition very soon as i am unable to purchase a rb at this time . It did come to mind after the email from Innvo though lol... i forgot to ask what Life OS the merlin edition pleo's arrive in  

Also i did receive a email from that ebay seller as i asked them for pictures of the packaging of their merlin edition and i have to say all the pictures looked legit i will paste and copy what i can of that email from them;

Oh yay - what brave and intrepid forum members we have here, what with Kat trying the lithium batteries and now you with this, Gaz!!  Keep us posted as to how it goes - did you ask them about a warranty?  

I do think you'll like the RB and should still go for one in the future, but you'd be crazy to get one right now and have to go through all the hassles (and costs) of import duty when it looks as though they will soon be available to buy in Europe.

For Merlin editon Pleo, it should be PM 2.0. With PM 2.0, the Pleo is more active. He has more room to grow and learn. He's learned new tricks and sounds. And all of the updates from Life OS 1.1 are included too.

and also got a email from Merlin and they say basically same; This is the New Edition of Pleo with same Life OS 2.0 but with improved skin and skin paint & internal machinery & structure is also improved.

 l think you are wise to buy directly from Merlin as they are a legit company that has done business for quite awhile, just do not have anything to do with that seller, Merlin does provide a 1 year warrantly on all their products as they state that on their home page, and none are cheap, but mostly electronics and they do have a fairly good reputation. I just wish the seller would disappear from ebay as he is totaly confusing or very inept at what he is doing and just sounds"fishy".
              The newer model does sound like a good deal, but like Crewellas said, I would hold out for a RB as the price even for a basic 2009 model that has improved skin and paint and you can update it for free from Pleoworld, is still a little high in my opinion, but the free shipping is a good deal. Just remember those import duties,Crewella could probably tell you how much hers were. If you do get one, Congratulations and be sure to keep us posted on when it arrives. Thats very cool and I hope you enjoy your new Pleo.. Looking forward to seeing what he does differently. I'd be interested but I have to say I agree.. I'd wait for a price drop as that is just way too expensive and too close to the current RB price and it as much as I love my Ugobes they are much different.

I spoke to Merlin Digital by telephone yesterday and sent an email via ebay to merlinuae.  I can confirm that merlinuae is actually Merlin Digital as the guy at Merlin Digital was able to confirm details about my email!   So it's all legit.  Im lining up to purchase, just need to convince myself to spend some more cash!

There was a choice of USA or Non USA with the 2009's, but in the UAE they have UK-style plugs, so no idea what we'll get...

i have received a message back from the ebay merlin seller and they say Merlin edition come with Europe plug (round 2 pin type) and

You have to buy conversion plug to use the power adapter of Pleo Merlin Digital edition in UK.
