Forum Tip: Adding pictures to posts

Got a cute picture you want to share?  Or several?  You can easily upload and post these pictures for everyone to see using the photo gallery.  It's actually quite simple.  But first you need to create your own personal photo album in our gallery (see forum tip).

• Upload your picture(s) to your photo album.  (How to upload photos)
• Get the smg ID tag number of the picture.  It is listed when you display your picture in your album.
    a.  Go to your personal photo gallery page (Gallery -> My Albums).
    b.  Click on the name of the album that has the photo in it.  This displays the thumbnails of all the pictures in the album.
    c.  Click on the picture you want to include in your post.
    d.  Below the picture is a bunch of text.  One of the lines reads "BBC embed code" and in the box next it is is listed a tag that looks like [smg id=###] where the "###" is a number.  This is the tag you need.  You can copy it, or just remember the number.
  
• In the post you want to include the picture just type in that BBC embed code.  Such as [smg id=24], which displays a linked thumbnail to the picture.  Such as:

It's that simple.  As long as you know the ID number of your photo, you just stick a [smg id=###] wherever you want the picture to be!

The second row of buttons directly under the underline button, it looks like this that will insert the code you need, all you do then is add your image url between the two bits of code ie:

{img}YOURURLGOESHERE{/img} (The brackets need to be the square ones though like this [ ]  )

It's not a URL it's on my computer it's a JPEG.

Ah ok well you need to upload it somewhere, either here in the gallery or you can get a free photo bucket account You could put it into a zip file and attach it to your post but people will have to download it to see it.

Hi, I seem to have trouble too. I signed up to PhotoBucket, but for some reason I can't get the picture into the post using that URL. Anyone know why this is? Perhaps I needed to select it or something?

You don't need Photobucket, though the IMG code from under the pic copied into your post will work like this:



You can also go into the gallery (on the blue strip), click 'my album', start an album and upload pics to it.  You then copy the BBC embed code from directly under the pc into your post and it will look like this (so it takes up less room, but you can click on it to enlarge it):
