Title: A lot of questions about pleos
Post by: Dilo63 on March 07, 2021, 12:51:46 AM
Hello all

I have more questions about my pleos and I think pleos in generally.
First, I am sorry if my conversation english is not good, I usually use technical english about my job...

To place the subject,  my 2 pleos are second-hand. Delta was never used, what lucky for me to see Delta born , but his ID card was not registered on pleoworld. Charlie was already born when I bougth him/her and his ID card was registered this time.

There are all my questions :
- if an ID card isn't registered, can the pleo learned a name and any tricks however ? Or the registration is an obligation for the pleo life ?
- for the already born pleo, can I learn it a new name and how ?
- how can I know if their are female ou male ?

Thank you for your answer.

Hello Elodie,

I am assuming that both Delta and Charlie are RB versions of Pleo?

1.  You can "re-register" your Pleo on pleoworld.com if the previous owner sent you the green owners book which has the code.  You can email them for the code if you don't have access to the booklet. (According the the forum)
see topic:
http://bobthepleo.com/forums/index.php/topic,4967.msg64521.html#msg64521

I don't believe that any of the above is required for normal growth and or development of your Pleos!

2.  Learning it name is a good one!  There are several good videos on the forum on how to do this. You can change it as often as you like.  The trick is getting it to learn it and then getting it to respond to it!  The microphones on Pleo are total crap and the sound capture and processing for voice recognition is even worse.  The video recommends recording the name on a phone and always using that playback to get Pleo to "recognize" the sound as his or her name.  As in children, Pleo must have progressed to a certain stage before it can be "taught" its name.

3 To find the gender of your RB, you can run the program ProbeRB on an SD card.

Have fun with your new Pleos!

Hello all,

Thanks to Peter, I can used the differents programms to know the mood of Charlie and Delta.

And I'm surprised !!!
Charlie is an very old Lady, unhappy, and I don't know how to improve her mood with a naturally way. If it isn't possible, maybe I can used the ChangeRB program...

And my little Delta is already a young dino... none gender and even if I play all days (or nearly all days) it's depressed, but in a good shape.

The reports are very complete. So now I have some work to make Charlie and Delta happy. I think it's more difficult that with my all dogs...  :o
Sorry for this looonnng message...

I have some questions again :
- what happen if I use the reset button ? The pleo go back to the stage 2 ?
- the pleos can have a "relationship" betwen them ? If yes, even if they have a lot of age difference ?

Thanks a lot for your support :-)

Hi Elodie,

Glad to were able to find out somethings about your Pleo's!

Don't worry about the "depressed vibe" report, that maybe a defect in the program  %)

Unfortunately, most of us have elderly Pleos now, and for the the RB, there is no going back to an earlier age (just like for me  :'( ).

The reset button resets the CPUs in case they get hung up (doesn't change the age of the Pleo).

Pleos don't discriminate on color or age! (they will interact with each other when they meet nose to nose).

The most important thing you can do is give them attention (and play with them in a warm and well lighted room).

Cheers!

Peter

Hi

I play often with them so it's good I think
But I wonder what the next stage for Charlie ?
She is in the stage 5: old age. So what next ?
I'm surprised by this stage because in the book (yes I read all the compagnion guide) they talk about 4 stages and not more...  ???

Hi Elodie,

Don't worry!  There isn't any programed "stop working" feature!

Charlie will stay old forever now (unlike me ;) ).

At some point he may start moving at a reduced motor speed (maybe he already is).

The good people at INNVO Labs never made their OS open source or really wanted end users to know too much about the internals.

The software development kit was really just a leftover from the UGOBE (previous developers who did want users to tinker with the internals of Pleo) days.

If you are really interested in how Pleo works, the INNVO SDK (even if you don't plan to make software) will give you a great insight into how Pleo works.

Hello Peter

Yes, Charlie don't move a lot, she doesn't walk for example. But she loves hugs...

For the program I had already downlod the SDK but don't open it for the moment.

Maybe this weekend if I found some time for that.
No problem to program or use a woftware  ;) I use a lot Matlab and Python for my job and at home for my bots  ;D

I'm enjoyed to know that Charlie can't die with the age  :o ;D

Thanks again.

Has re-registering worked for you? Been trying to work this out myself. And your English is quite alright. roofing contractors seminole (https://www.chappelleroofing.com/location/seminole)
