Title: Easy: It not start :(
Post by: erbarbas on July 20, 2020, 03:15:20 PM
Ok, i have 2 classic Pleo, don't have any battery, box, charger, manual or any other thing, only have the dinos :)

Since I have no battery, I have plugged them directly into a transformer with 7.2v
(https://scontent-mad1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/109825748_3151941598208847_4699630873391548560_o.jpg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_sid=0debeb&_nc_ohc=B_4LMZx7yK0AX8G_tKc&_nc_ht=scontent-mad1-1.xx&oh=3b40237b54975fa537562a529d5fe0cc&oe=5F39C97F)

When I hit the power button at 8/10 seconds they grunt, (no movement) and remain silent until another 8/10 seconds pass and they make the same grunt.

I can't get the youtube video to come out.

As I read, that growl does when you feel the battery too hot, correct?

what should I do? Buy a battery? Make a trick? Do I use paperweights?

See if you can guide me because I'm looking forward to reviving both of you :)

Hola erbarbas,

I live in Zaragoza!  (Si quieres puedes mandarme un mensaje (PM) en Español si es mas comodo para ti.)

Your problem my be that running a pleo with a power supply, your are missing the battery temp sensor, so the Pleo detects a problem with the battery and shuts down.
You can try connecting a 10K ohm resistor between the negative terminal and the temperature sensor terminal (the one not connected at the moment).

See if that makes a difference.  Any value resistor between 10k and 8k should work okay.

Let me know how it works!

Saludos,

Peter

Nop, i try it yesterday and have the same sound :(

I try this too: https://www.instructables.com/id/Run-Pleo-on-AA-batteries/ (https://www.instructables.com/id/Run-Pleo-on-AA-batteries/)

Result: Same sound in both Pleo's

I'm thinking to buy a new Pleo battery, somewhere cheap? XD

Hey Erbarbas,

Why would you buy another battery if doesn't work with a power supply!

My track record is not that great helping people, but I would be willing to help you try and diagnose the problem if you can connect your pleo to Dino-mite software (available for download on the forum in downloads section).

On windows 10, you must  "Disable driver signature enforcement" to install the usb drivers, and the software must be run in XP Compatibility mode  SP3 under Windows 10.

You must also install the patch Dino-Fix from the download section of the form!

Cheers!

Hiya elbarbas,

I was away in Jaca for the a few days escaping the Plague (I mean the coronavirus) ;) .

I think it may be a low voltage condition or low amperage condition.

We'll see when you get dinomite connected!

Cheers!

Ogie was exactly like that after I changed his main fuse (he was dead as a Dodo before that).  He had a faulty battery temp sensor I think so I added the 'Startup script to disable battery temp sensor' script in the download section here to an SD card, now he boots every time when that is installed.  With no Thermistor in the battery pack the Pleo will think the battery has overheated and go to sleep after a second or two.  Ogoe was the same and I thought he had a corrupt LifeOS - but in the end the script helped.
