Hope this works. I'm typing from a new computer. I was planning to get aqn Aibo for Christmas. I'll need to see though. It's amazing what they can do in 2018.

I have a little bit of hope about this bot, but I'm realistic too. I bet the price of this thing will be at least two thousand dollars or more and with a market flooded with social robots all claiming to be "The first" social robot for the home, I just hope Sony puts a real compelling spin on this remake that will make this possible Aibo-like creature stick this time around.
We'll just have to see what happens.

I'm incredibly excited about this release- even if it doesn't end up being a "true AIBO".

New robot pet to be announced 1st November!! This video is from Sony Japan...

Ummmm... That was confusing. I heard birds, then a soft crunchy sound as though something were standing up in grass, and then a single electronic tone. I've already read from a thread on another forum that this video was shot from dog's eye level.

Hi Talon, yes it's just shot as if a small robot pet is looking up and around the living room and then the owner comes down the stairs, bends down and smiles at the robot as if to say hey good morning! It's pretty basic and doesn't really give anything away unfortunately
-
The birds are when the robot looks past the windows (it's as if they live in middle of a forest and have the windows and doors open?) and the crunch is the lady bending down, the beep is the Sony logo popping up on the screen at the end x
-
Thanks for explaining that, MH7ah! I'll keep an ear out here for more information as it trickles in. Sounds promising.

For anyone that has not yet seen the new Sony Aibo ERS 1000.....

It looks expensive :P
-
$1,750
-
Plus nine hundred dollar iCloud subscription fee which gives you three years service. There doesn't appear to be any internal software or a removable battery so the dog will not work without this special cloud service. I'm glad Aibo is back, but he's too expensive for me. I guess I'm just used to secondhand Aibo prices.

So... $3500 Australian, ouch :P
The price of the bot I could swallow, but a mandatory and expensive subscription, no, just no.
-
Haha! I hear you, IMR! You could probably use that on a downpayment on a car or something.

Just wondered what people’s impressions of the new Aibo are (other than it being expensive) since all the home videos have been put on YouTube.
-
After some reviews and additional views that surfaced after the announcement, I warmed up to purchasing one and started setting aside funds in the event it sees a US release within a year.
-
I’m in love with it. Money permitting I’ll be welcoming one of these pups into my home. It’s so realistic. Have you seen the video where it actually fooled a dog enough to accept it as another dog?
-
Still too expensive :( I just can’t justify that price tag.
