Title: Makeblock mbot
Post by: Pennys mum on July 22, 2017, 01:23:33 PM
Hey has anyone here got or programmed an mbot? I have just bought one on EBay after recently discovering this bot. I am super excited after watching some tutorials on YouTube and it looks so easy!! ;D I got an arduino about  a year ago but even though my technical genius husband tried to very patiently explain it to me I just couldn't get my head around it. I really wanted to learn how to do some basic programming because I love robots so much but I'll admit it: I'm a technical DUNCE  :-\. But hey now I've discovered this bot and looks simple enough even for ME to understand. Wow!  :)

Hi! I got a Makeblock mBot around two years ago.
Programming mBot using the scratch.mit.edu fork is very easy. The mBot board is basically an arduino uno board so you can program it in the Arduino language too, if you'd like.
One thing I had a lot of trouble with initially was the wireless setup. Makeblock did not do well with making clear instructions for their bluetooth setup- this wasn't a big deal for me as I was able to clear it out quite easily but I could see people getting confused pretty quickly. A couple of other people and I actually wanted to make a Makeblock wiki but that never came to fruition. The github repo is out there somewhere...

Good luck with the programming! Feel free to shoot me a message if you ever need help with your mBot :)

Thanks! I'll take you up on that  ;) THE MBOT ARRIVED TODAY!!! I've part assembled it without any help from my husband which is a first for me!  ;D Just having a tea break before I carry on.
