Title: Pleo in display case?
Post by: HuggieZ on May 06, 2016, 09:27:45 AM
Has anyone seen this before? A Pleo in a display? It is an Ugobe, they where in the possesion of a museum. Is this made by Invo? The museum told me then bought it like this.

Can’t say I have ever come across a pleo in a museum display case before.

What context was it in? I mean was it as part of a temp exhibition or a permanent feature?

These were around a while back, they aren't full functioning like a regular Pleo although it uses a regular Pleo body essentially. I believe it's fixed to the floor of the case. It probably runs the demo software found here on the forum.

That’s interesting, never heard of anything like that.
] I’m guessing that the weren’t intended for the consumer market though where they?
Where they   intended to be displayed at technology and toy exhibitions?

I think they where displayed at a dino exhibition. I have those Pleo's at home and I have taken them out of the display. They have a lot of damage on the skin. They are indeed only sleeping. But they work on a battery. Can I try to put on a special Ugobe software?

Do they work as normal Ugobes or is their software more limited because they were on display at a dino exhibition ? I am really curious  :D :dino-chase:

Hihi I have 7 Pleo's now.
They are limited. They sleep and sometimes they lift their heads. My boyfriend will try to install the Ugobe software this week.

Now I understand what you're doing after reading your "programming an Ugobe" post. Did you download the correct operating system? Go to the link here on the forum that says "Pleo classic OSes". These are the operating systems for the Ugobes. I think you could successfully try any of these operating systems other than the 1.0 downgrade and of course the pop OS, but if these guys are the display moddels you were talking about, I really don't know what they can run. I hope you can get them going.

We tried with an SD card with 2 GB, but the card did not work on the computer. So they are still in their demo fase.

The Pleo's don't react on the SD card with the update. We tried everyone of them, but there is no reaction. We used an 1 GB SD card. What am I doing wrong?

The card is probably still too big.  The original Ugobe pleos can't read SD cards marked as SDHC (High Capacity or FAT32) or SD cards marked as SDXC (exFAT). Standard SD cards must be 2GB or smaller, but SDHC can be found on smaller capacity cards as low as 128MB, and has been on the market since 2006.   Check the specs on the card and make sure it's not an SDHC.

There were "display" models made for retail stores.  These were powered by a wire that ran from the back foot down into the display case.  The POP OS was designed specifically for these display models.  If your pleos run on batteries and don't have the wire, they are probably regular pleos purchased for the exhibit.

Your Pleo's so card slot might be broken :( Try popping the card in and out a few times and make sure the card contacts are clean.
