Title: Leg touch sensor
Post by: degers on April 22, 2014, 04:45:13 PM
Hi Guys,

I think im going to need to solder one of my pleos leg touch sensor wires back in place as it's constantly lifting it.
Do any of you have a picture of the front leg skinned so I know which wire im looking for?

Also, will I need more solder, or will I be just able to remelt the solder thats there with a soldering iron?

Kind Regards

without a camera at the moment but will have it back tonight so will take a photo for you of pickles leg she is a RB skinless.  I would think that it couldn't hurt to have new solder.  I used new solder every time I re soldered wires on my guys.

It's the solitary green wire that goes under the 'goop' at the bottom of the foil sensor patch.  Usually, the solder has come detached under said 'goop', I would get new solder, and just use the pointy bit of the soldering iron so you don't melt any plastic.  Good luck!

Just wondering how you guys got the old solder back off?

Also, did you guys bother unscrewing the screw thingy?

I just used the tip of the hot soldering iron and gave it a gentle push and it came away.  :)  I can't remember completely but I don't think you need to undo any screws if the issue is just the touch sensor.

I don't remember undoing any screws either, and as far as I remember any residual original solder just got fused in with the new when I applied the iron.

How's it going?
