Greetings Everyone,
Per Talon's request, here is a first experiment at changing your Pleo's voice to a higher pitch. Download and unzip the file. Copy the contents of the included folder onto an empty SD card and insert the card into your Pleo with the power off. When you turn the Pleo on, the script will run and will temporarily change the Pleo's voice to 200% pitch giving it a decidedly female sound.
This will last for a varied amount of time. At some point something in the built-in personality resets the pitch to 100% and the voice will change back. I am working on something that will last longer.
The SD card needs to be in the Pleo every time you turn it on by the way for the voice to change.
Any questions or problems getting it to work ask me here.
Keep in mind it works on Ugobe Pleo's running OS 1.1 only at the moment. Ugobe Pleo's have a Ugobe copyright notice on their back-left foot (that's the Pleo's left, your right). OS 1.1 Pleos sing when you rub under their chins long enough. (OS 1.0 Pleos only bark or growl when you do that)
I don't have an OS2.0 Pleo at the moment to try the script out with but I don't believe anything changed in the PAWN scripting language so it might work fine. If you have success with a 2.0 let me know here.

Fabulous ......... but am I being a complete pain if I ask if it's possible for the voice to go deeper? :-[ :moose:
(All my Ugobes are boys ..... a soprano might get picked on .........) ;)

I'm guessing Crewella, that all you need to do is change that 200% down to 70% or so.

IMR is absolutely correct. The sound speed takes a number from 50 to 200 for the speed to play back at. It defaults to 100 which is the normal voice we all know and love. 50 would be deep boy voice. 200 is high girl voice.
Since it's still experimental I didn't bother making a boy one until I figure out how to get the effect to last longer. Once that's fixed I can do a few different pitched voices and also post the source-code and instructions on how to do a custom number.
It's very similar to making a regular .urf file with the PDK but you need to use a specific .amx file from the temp folder, etc etc.
I should be able to make it work on Ugobes running OS 1.0 as well with a minor change.

I have a girl Ugobe. Grr I wish I could try this out but my Ugobes are both still in South Carolina and won't be with me until the sixteenth. Perhaps by then you may have time to get this to work on 1.0. If not I'll upgrade both my Ugobes to 1.1. Thanks for your work, mlbelanger.

I have tried this on a brand new SD card, straight out of the sealed package, and pleo works fine, but after putting this file in, nothing..no movements or sound or anything.I have tried it on 3 different pleos and they allwork fine without this in them , but nothing when this file is inserted..so not sure what is going on. I did format the card also and that went fine. Just to make sure, I will erase it and try one of the skits so I know I can follow directions. If this works then it is the download I presume...

Talon, I'll try and get a 1.0 version done in a couple of days for you to try.
RWM, that's exactly what I would recommend. Let's make sure the SD card works properly with a "normal" script then we can try to figure out why the voice change isn't working for you.

:D :XD: Ok this has to be the funniest thing I've heard all day..... I've got Minyon running with the SD card in and Gumble running without to compare voices and Minyon sounds like a chipmunk pleo :D It is very cute especially when they had a little mooing session together. Minyons sounds are a little too fast I think. You can definitely tell the difference in tone between the two. It is like Minyons noises are all being played in fast forward. Wonder what he would sound like with it set to 150 instead of 200? Most of the noises don't matter too much being a bit fast but his little hello is just a squeak now instead of hello :P
Oh Minyon is running the 2.0 OS so it works fine with that :)

Some testing has shown that this will work for 1.1, 2.0, 2009 Pleo's and Pleo RB :)

I cant get this or any of the skits dowqnloads to work even though it is a brand new card. Only guess is that I am using an "ultra" sd hc card where no action is missed, and I googled last nite where the rteader writer on some computers coul not read it as it is "too fast" for some to read. ???Only thing I can think to do is to try erasing one of my photo cards(after uploading the photos) and try that. If that fails, I need downloading for dummies. :-[I have downloaded before though. Has anyone heard of sd hc cards(ultra) that are not a good match for this before? Just curious RWM :cat-hug:

As far as I know you need a standard SD card for Pleo and not SDHC.

Thanks Kami, but when I checked I have 2 other skits that both work fine and are 4 gb sd hc cards. Both "lonsome" and "China song" work fine. I use the same pleo each time and with this new one, no noise, skit or movement till I remove the card. I also formatted the card and nothing else is on it, brand new from store yesterday. I am afraid I need someone to do a Dummies 101 step by step page fpr me.. Just so you know, I did try it on 4 different pleos yesterday, still did not work, Oh, I did notice that "lonsesome snd the other skit I have that work are zipped files, this one is not? RWM :cat-hug:

RWM the only thing that should be on the SD card is the startup.amx file.

Thanks IMR, there are no other skits on this card, loesome is another sd card.Does this mean that I do not copy the whole file which includes the read me file, just start up? RWM

You only need that one file, and it must not be in a folder.

You technically don't need the text file but I've been including it in mine so if I'm trying to remember later on what a particular startup.amx file on some random SD card does, the .txt file is right next to it for me to read.
But yes, you definitely do not want the folder to be on the SD card. Just the contents of it by themselves on the card.
By the way supposedly SDHC cards work on Ugobe Pleos since OS 1.1 (according to part of the PDK) but I've yet to try one out. I'm using an old 1GB SD card I've had lying around forever.

i HAVE DONE THIS AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. i FIRST DOWNLOADED IT FROM HERE TO MY MAIN DRIVE, c. tHEN i OPENED UP THE FOLDER AND SENT THE CONTENTS TO ANOTHER DRIVE(EXTERNAL, k) THEN i OPENED UP THAT FOLDER AND THWRE WAS THE READ ME AND START UP. i DELETED rEAD ME SO WHEN i EXTRACTED OR SENT sTARTUP IT WOULD GO BY ITSELF . i THEN EXTRACTED OR SENT, THE START UP TP MY OTHER DRIVE WHERE i HAVE THE sd CARD, f. tHEN i EJECTED IT, MAKING SURE IT WAS SAFE. tHE f DRIVE SAYS START UP IS ON IT, BUT NO noise, movement etc, till the card is removed.?
Another question..Do I need to format the card after deleting the start up file each time, or just delete the files so I have a 'clean "card? This is very frustrating.....RWM

try this. Download the .zip file to your Documents folder. Unzip it there which will make a folder with the two files inside of it. copy both files to the empty SD card. You don't need to reformat it, just delete the old stuff on it first.
So you'll end up with an SD card that has just the .txt file and the startup.amx
You'll know it works when the Pleo starts on its own without removing the card. You'll hear the familiar "huh?" but very high pitched.

Why are you moving the file around so much? Its completely unnecessary.

Mike, I followed your instructions, and still can not get any results. I have an sd card that has both files on it, but pleo still does not move,etc. I am using pleo with2.0, Nova.Do i have to have a Fully charged battery each time? P

RWM it's a very short script that runs right when the Pleo starts up. It's not like an OS update that takes a while to run or anything like that. There is just a couple of second delay before the Pleo wakes up with the higher voice.
I'm not sure what else to suggest but we do know it should be working on Nova with her 2.0 OS.
If you can spare it maybe send the SD Card just as you have it now down to me when you send Nova and I can figure out what was going wrong with the script or the card. I'd love to get to the bottom of whatever is going on.

Do you have a normal SD card you can try?
