Title: Pleo worked, now does not!!!
Post by: mrbreguet on June 27, 2011, 04:18:06 PM
hello,

just bought a pleo for my daughters birthday... all seemed ok so gave it to her on the day.. however after one hour it gave up..

thinking it was  just a charge issue, we put battery on to charge overnight.... however even though showing green in morning there was no action.

plugged battery in again, this time showed red for a bit then green after a few minutes..

at a loss whether it s pleo or the battery that is spent (no amp/volt meter at moment to check)  but certainly pleo worked, then did not..

any advice much appreciated as my daughter feels like a new friend has suddenly vanished..

it is a '1' serial number ugobe pleo

thanks

steve

Can I just check this is a Ugobe Pleo and not one of the new Pleo RBs?

It definitely sounds like a battery issue, but  need to confirm the Pleo type so I can link you the appropriate threads.  Don't worry - your daughter's Pleo can be saved, I think!  :D

hello and thanks...

it is a ugobe model for sure...  box and docs all correspond, battery marked ugobe, serial number is a '1' series...

just put batt on to charge again.. gone green after 20 mins

thanks

Hi Steve, and welcome to the forum, by the way!  ;D

This is a good thread that will give you the basics.  Sadly, the original green batteries last little more than an hour at the best of times and now that they are no longer manufactured all Ugobe Pleos have been sitting in their boxes for some time so battery problems are more likely.

And just to show you how common problems are:

You'll read about how to try to 'nurse' the battery in the thread - just keep reseating it (as long as it's cool) as discussed.

Any queries come back to us!  Good luck!
