These are posted here for the benefit of Pleo owners in the absence of any official sites.   Please visit the official Pleo manufacturer or licensed distributor for the official downloads.

Downloads for DOWNGRADING/RESETTING to Ugobe LifeOS 1.0.

This downloads are intended to reset/restore your pleo to it's original state, and will erase all files stored on your pleo and reset any personality.

I need to use the windows usb updater but it doesn't work. The file type isn't correct as it is an exe icon rather than a setup one and if you click on it it opens a dos box for a second then closes. Does anyone have another version/copy of this file please

KH11981 when you download the files you don't have a setup file.  What you want to see is the .urf file.  Just copy this onto the memory card and place it in your pleo.  With the card in before turning him on he will read the urf file instead of activating his normal personality.

Hi there.  Remember to unzip the file from this website before you can use it.  Read the PDF file for information.

I have unzipped it. gives me a macOs folder even though it is windows download, the pdf and an exe file. its this exe that doesn't work. download the windows usb firmware above and you'll see what I mean.

might just buy an SD card and use that. is there any diference between SD and usb versions?

The SD updater is faster and easier to use.

The attachment is a screenshot of the contents of the windows updater as downloaded when I last edited this post
You will need to check where you unzipped the file and use the file without "._" at the start.  I have notified Mike that his windows zip file contains the windows and mac updaters.

I have attached a new .zip file containing only the windows updaters.  There was a problem that the file was called *.msi.exe where it must only be called *.msi  If you want this to work just rename it and delete .exe from the end leaving it .msi

I updated the zip file linked from the first post.  I removed the mac directory and renamed the the msi file.  Should be good now!

Used the SD version. Think it worked although it did seem a little quick. How can I tell. He does seen more active and does sing little songs if I stroke his chin. Does this sound like it's worked?

Also I checked the new doenload ypu posted and the file looks like a setup file now and it looks like it will work. thanks again for all the help folks

If the personalities work, then you installed the OS1.1 correctly.  Typically if the upgrade didn't work, your pleo would be dead.

my pleo is dead, but the personalities work fine, so there seems to be no need for a correct OS, as long as the basic i/o is alive.
shouldn't be that hard to bring him back to life, but the standard updater refuses to do the update again, because the pleo already answers as 1.1.

My comments were referring to someone who has a functioning pleo running an earlier version of the OS who tries to install an upgrade (i.e., KH11981).

My Pleo died when I tried updating to 1.1 via USB. I fixed him by running the 1.1 update via SD card, then running the normal 1.0.2 update via USB.

Notes:

Pleo's personality is reset
The 1.1 update didn't complete it's final beep. So I left him for 15 mins, then switched him off, removed the SD card before i ran the 1.0.2 update.

If you have never updated then chances are you have 1.0 or 1.0.2, so try the 1.1. To know for sure hold your Pleo's back and chin and he will sit, if he moves around and makes noises then he is running 1.1 already :)

Ok I'll test it out tonight... Right now the battery is charging and then I have to go through the birthing process... Yes I got my Pleo today...

Can I install the ORIGINAL 1.0 LifeOS? (I have 1.0.2 and have NEVER upgraded to 1.1 in over a year.
Is there a zip file with 1.0 or can I just use the 'Reset To Hatchling' codes? (5 lines in ASCII text on SD)
Also If I do this will that ever change if I download 1.1? Thanks mweed! You are our light in this dark time. ;)

Now if I can just find a copy of DINO-mite.... :(

Well I tried holding his chin and rear, and he didn't do anything... I read the instruction for 1.1 nd it says that he'll sit down for this version... But IMR said that he would walk around... What to do? lol

I too just got my Pleo, just before hearing that they went belly up.  I was trying to follow the thread, but was having trouble.  Can anyone tell me, a Mac user, what the best way to update is?

The SD card updates are platform independent.  I have never tried the Windows updates, and I don't own a Mac.  Ugobe always used to tell Windows users who had problems to use the SD card updates to correct bad installs.  So I would tend to think the SD card installs are the best way to go.   But this opinion is not based on experience, just what I've heard.

the instructions say you need the installer from pleoworld. but, pleoworld no longer exists so how do i get that?


also, i tried using the sd card to get life os 1.1 but it did not work. i unzipped the file, copied it to the card and put it in my pleo (who was turned off) it said that there would be chimes when i turned her on, but she just acted normally, making her usual noises with no chimes. how do you get it to work?

Well, they are setup .exe Windows files. That's as much as an installer can be. You have two ways of updating firmware: Either using the mini usb plug on windows with the .exe installer or put the files on an SD card. Have a look thre are PDF manuals for both methods

Please anyone could do a review to test if the downgrade works or not? I've tried it but it doesnt work (the same problem with the downgrade from 1.1 to 1.0.2, that seems can only work with USB). Thank you in advance ;)

Ugobe from USA is down but Ugobe Asia is still up and running (Ucube)

He acts differently. I read somewhere in 1.1 he makes louds if you touch under his skin. I guess I will see it once he is with me :)

There is no 1.2 (yet).  The last update released by Ugobe was the 1.1

You can update him from 1.0 straight to 1.1., just tried it myself (with the  USB Updater for Windows XP32bit/Vista32bit, worked perfectly and he can do so much more now!! :D

Hello,
I upgraded my Pleo to 1.1 . I think it was successfull, cause I heared the three Sounds and my Pleo sit, if I hold his back an chin.
But I donīt like it, that he allways sit and do nothing for serveral seconds, if I accidentally touch him wrong.
So I downloaded the "SD Card downgrade for LifeOS1.0"-File from this thread an installed it.
I think, this was successfull too. When I turned him on, after downgrade, he do his new-born-behavior.
Now the Problem: He still sit ! (If I touch the back and chin)
But why?
Will the sit-programm-part not earse by downgrading?

What can I do, that Pleo didnīt sit anymore? Pleas Help. Thanks.

Pleo sits if you touch chin and push on rear. You do have to activate this. Just don't push up on chin and down on rear at the same time. How long did you leave 1.1 on? Did you give it a long enough chance to see what your dino will do?

Hello .. I'm Richard from Padua, Italy.
I have just buyed a new Pleo, and upgraded to 1.1 firmware immediately.
But I have readed in many forums that the 1.02 version is much better, so I tried first to downgrade to 1.0, then to upgrade
to 1.02.
I have copied all the downgrade's files found at the begin of this thread to an SD and inserted in Pleo's slot.
The downgrade process was correct, everything worked fine.
But if now I try to upgrade to 1.02 version, both from SD and USB version, the process won't start.
From SD I hear immediatly the three chimes of the upgrade process end, and from USB the system tell me that there is already installed
the 1.02 version !!!  :o
I don't understand where is the problem .... any ideas?
Now I have reflashed Pleo with 1.1 firmware ...  :'(
There is a firmware that can downgrade directly 1.1 to 1.02?

Hello Minamoto Kobayashi. :) 1.1 is the latest version of OS. so ovecorse it whodunit update it would have Ben downgrading not upgrading. and just a queston what is your Pleos name???

Hello ... for the momment Pleo doens't have a name yet  ^-^
My goal is to downgrade Pleo from 1.1 to 1.02, but I fail.
I can flash both 1.0 or 1.1 firmware, but If I try to mount 1.02 from a installed  1.0, a message
tell me that there is already a 1.02 version mounted in Pleo ...  :'(
Anyone can help me?

I put the SD card in and nothing happens!!!! Every time!!! What is wrong?!?!?!? By the way, my pleo can sing and moves when he is sitting...is he in 1.1?

Sounds like he is already running LifeOS1.1, so the SD upgrade won't work.

Try putting one of the personalities on the SD card (like the pleosaurus rex) and turning him on.  You should immediately notice a difference in personality.  If you do, the SD card works fine.

What brand & size is the card?  What else is on the card?

I am now on my third PLEO.  Problem is I have Windows 7 and am having trouble upgrading to OS 1.1.  The computer isn't finding PLEO.  Can anyone help?
