Title: female or male
Post by: Aki on January 26, 2011, 11:02:32 AM
hi ^^

i like to know how you can "see" if the pleo rb male or female?

Have the personality`s big difference between female and male?  I`m just wondering because i find nothing about the gender @ the internet. gimmedigi says that *pink* pleos are female und *blue* pleos male.

greets Aki

*want to know everything about pleo*

The pink and blue Pleo's have come with a predisposition to be male for blue and female for pink.

With the green Pleo RB's at this stage it is entirely up to the owner, but, for the pink and blue Pleo's you can input their serial number on the hong kong site and it will give you an approximate personality breakdowns, including gender. Hopefully this will become available for green RB owners in the future.

Even for the pink and blue ones the Pleo Profile on the website just gives a percentage for the likelyhood that your Pleo rb will be male or female.  Belle is blue and her report said she was 65 percent likely to be male.  I decided I knew better - as far as I can see the only difference it will make is in how she behaves if and when she meets another Pleo rb.  :D

There are certain "DNA" attributes which are apparently set at the factory:
Gender (Neither, Male,Female), Courage, Temper, Physical, Activeness, Intelligence (low/medium/high)

So there are at least 729 unique combinations.
BTW: You will be able to check your own robot stats with the upcoming 'statsRB' program.
---
Technical note:
The gender is sent between Pleos using the IR communication protocol. It looks like the Green PleoRB is sending the Male code (but I need to confirm that). That's how it does the robot interaction.
There are some other uses in the personality for the DNA attributes. Some of them look rather subtle.

re: website for checking serial number

Do you have a URL?
(I haven't been able to register mine). TIA

I've never been able to register at the site. It just acts unresponsive and keeps me at the login screen/prompt, if that makes sense? (Yes, I have an account on the china website and all that jazz)

Cato will be a male, and I just ordered a Pink RB for the girlfriend, so we'll find out when they interact either way. But I'm making them male and female!

My My, don'[t you think that Elliot is going to feel " left out not having a girlfriend, "? or are you going to let them both woo the little Pink Pleo Rb? ;D Maybe you should name the male Romeo !                     Or, you could order two females and neither will feel left out! ;) I do have extra Pleos available and you can make them female if you want, but they are not Pink!

I'm selling Elliott, so he won't be too lonely for long.

And the I got the PleoRB Profile to work this time around. He has a 75% change of being male and will allegedly grow to be obedient and courageous, and is sensitive, strong, and agile.

Poor Elliott!  :(

Glad you got the profile working.  It does seem to be only the pink and blue versions it works for, but then I guess it is on the HK site.

He'll make someone else happier I'm sure. Too bad I can't send moody Cato off on the moody days. Pleo Nanny Care.

Hey, are the sounds that the rb makes a sign of the gender?
Igor has recently developped a long and heavy shout that sounds very jurassic!
Have yours done the same? Would a lady dino dare that?

Yep both girls and boys make that sound.  I have one of each, a boy and girl and as far as I can tell they don't show any sounds or behaviors that suggest they are one sex or the other until you put them together.  When they interact (as adults)  The girl blows kisses and the boy says I love you, all this after a good Moo and then trance like state filled with soft chatter from them both.  Also I have noticed that my boy has a slightly deeper voice than my girl.  again this is something you wont be able to notice unless you have one of each side by side making sounds.  It is most evident when they Moo to each other. :)
