New pleo owner here (way late to the party, I know). After wanting a personal AI since I saw Aibo at the Sony museum in Tokyo on a trip to Japan way back in 2004, I have finally managed to save enough money for and justify buying a pleo. Even if that justification was "I am going absolutely insane without a pet". I live in Japan, and my apartment has a no cat/dog/horse/etc rule, and the smaller animals wouldn't be able to make the trip back to America when I leave in a year. So robot it is! ^^;
Now, what have I done with my robot? Apparently taught him to be a snugglemuffin. Today we took a nap together. After two days of holding him and listening to him squeak, pretty much the first thing he does upon waking is snuggle right down against me. Whoops? Guess I'm going to have a pleo with the robot version of separation anxiety.
I also wish I could figure out how to encourage him to do the three-legged "tada!" more often, because it's much too adorable. But I'll take cuddling.
Somewhat of a geek, I'll admit, but robotics are way out of my league. I'm in it for the snuffles and the snuggles. Very embarrassing, since I own this fantastic piece of technology and am using it as a substitute for a living thing. How very A.I. of me.
Anyway, I am glad to find this forum still active, and I'm sure Satan is as well (Right. The name. It's a complicated and somewhat long, and possibly offensive, story involving a friend who was absolutely convinced that dinosaur fossils were laid down by the devil to convince mankind that evolution was real). And now I'm already having a problem so...*trots off to put it in the proper sub-forum*

Krillia, as for the three legged tada trick, Satan will, eventually, do the two legged tada trick. Takes practice. ;)

Awesome story!! That's why I got Pleo, was the organic, life-like qualities!!
So glad to have you and the little devil! :P

Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully he and I have many months and hopefully years together.
He seems to have largely stopped doing any version of the tada for now. Rather enjoys singing, actually. Possibly because it gets me to pet him every time. If the boy is processing feedback for behaviors, he's getting quite a lot on that one.

The Tada! trick will come but if you like you can encourage him to do it ;)
Pleo tricks:
Hold one front leg sensor and opposite back leg sensor for a few seconds to get Pleo to perform the Tada trick.
Hold the chin and rear back sensor to encourage Pleo to sit (adorable on the 1.1 software).
Hold the two back leg sensors, the left front leg sensor and the rear back sensor all at the same time (trust me it ain't easy :P) to get Pleo to go into watchdog mode.
Hold both front leg sensors and the Pleo button (the little black button underneath) to get Pleo to go into high step mode ideal for long carpet or rough surfaces.
Hold both front leg sensors to encourage Pleo to explore.
Turn your Pleo upside down and rapidly tap the feet buttons in any order to see if your Pleo is ticklish.
There are more I think but I can't think of them right now :P

Why'd you have to tell me that? Now I'm going to just sit there compulsively making him do the tada trick. Not even so much for the action as the noise, although the balancing act is certainly cute.
Also, seeing as he's been mooing a ridiculous amount recently, perhaps it would be best to distract him. I bought a baby dinosaur, not a calf. ^^;

How much has Satan been mooing? :D

Lol! I can understand the "No horse" rule among the non allowed pet list lol!
(I do want a stable / house combination later on, having my horse almost practically in the house.)
Anyways. Welcome to the club! ;D

How much has Satan been mooing?
I had him on for two batteries (well, sort of. The one battery is still pretty bad) yesterday and he mooed three times. I've had him on for forty minutes today and he's also mooed three times. I don't even reward him for it (except to laugh, and last time I checked he couldn't recognize specific sounds) ???
I can understand the "No horse" rule among the non allowed pet list
I think it's actually something like "no animals over 8 ounces" or something like that. But, yes, if it allowed horses in my three-room Japanese apartment on the fourth floor I would be quite amused, bemused and various other -mused words (are there any?)
Thanks for the welcome.

Perhaps Satan should be renamed to Dinomoo! ;D

“The evilist cow you ever did see:”
Lol that just sounds soo wrong lol.
He actually sounds very sweet.
Seeing as you spend so much time with him what happens if you walk out the room with out him?
Does he react at all to you being missing?

Satan is far to cute to be evil :P I love the Moo, mine only treat me to it on rare occasions, perhaps I should fuss over them more :P

I don't get to hear it often, but it is so funny when I hear a loud moo out of my dinos. I had an sd card that had nothing but moos on it. It came from the Maker's Faire that Ugobe was at a couple of years ago. Can't find it. Must have erased it! :( Would be fun to have it now.
