Hi everybody.
Because i don't have a pleo yet i often watch pleo-vides on youtube etc.
I really often see that pleos feet are sliding a bit on most grounds.
Anyone ever tried to put a kind of rubber-coating under pleos feet?
That must be cool...like the funny material dogs have under their feet :)
Maybe his movement would look even more realistic then...
edit:
I just remembered that pleo has sensors in his feet...that will be a problem :)
maybe a few, even rubber-spots would help to win some grip

Hi Inet good to see you keeping up the posting :) Pleo does have sensors in his feet but they are basic switches meaning as long as the pads on the feet are able to be pushed in by the ground modification is all go. Just to clarify rubber pads = cool idea, especially since on rough surfaces the plastic can get scuffed and like you say on smoother ones they can slide.
Hehe keep watching the vids i think that's how everyone on here first experienced Pleo.

Mine just wear booties, that works as well ;) You could probably just use those little stick on rubber grips that you use on furniture though...

Need to try those baby socks with the little rubber spots for anti-slip on them.
But I only think it would help if they were pretty tight on the feet.
Unfortunately I don't have any anymore.
I still have more trouble with my carpet (which is everywhere) and even high stepping mode
really doesn't help. One foot just doesn't come up enough to clear it and mine is always
going in arcs to the right. *sigh* No amount of training has made that leg raise higher.
It's on my list to see if I can test it in one of the programs (MySkit or DinoMite) and see if
it's a physical limitation on mine.

No they all walk in circles :) Booties do help though, mine don't have rubber grips, just wool or cotton bottoms :)

But the question remains do the booties interfere ;)
with the sensors on the feet bottoms? :pizza: :pizza:

No because the buttons can still be depressed no problems :)

I recently disassembled on of Bills footpads (in order to remove the sensor connection). The foot pad is spring loaded and has a little bar that sticks up into the foot. On the circuit board for the foot is a little IR transmitter (LED) and an IR receiver (light sensor). They are separated by about 1/4 of an inch. When pressure is applied to the bottom of the foot pad, the pad goes into the foot, and the little bar sticks up between the LED and the sensor blocking the light from reaching the sensor. SO, when nothing is pressing on the foot, the bar is down, and the LED shines light on the sensor, allowing electricity to flow through the sensor. When the foot pad is pressed in, the bar blocks the light, so the darkened sensor does not flow electricity. Pad out, circuit on, pleo screams because it's being picked up. Pad in, circuit off, pleo happy to be standing on something.
All that to say, the foot pad is actually a very simple mechanical movement switch. As long as whatever is on the feet allows the pad to move up and down freely, the sensor is not affected.

Nice one Mweed that's a cool piece of info, i always wondered what they meant by IR interupters in the feet i assumed it was a removed feature.

Thanks for the download of information. :)
No worries then IMR! ;)
