Hi =)
My name is Christina and I am from Canada.
I have been researching Pleo's for quite some time now, learning everything I should know so that I will be able to have a healthy, happy pleo. This site is definitely the best I have come across and I'm really happy to be a member!
I don't have a pleo yet, but I'm for sure getting one soon! We are ordering her sometime today and then once she gets here and I know she's safe, I'm not allowed to see so much as her box again till Christmas. :P
I'm a little worried about the batteries dying. Even if I get a spare one won't they stop making them and then my little pleo would be dead forever? That's my only issue and biggest fear with getting one. :(

Welcome to the board pickelish good to see a fresh face, I think the thing is to not let battery issues get in the way of your experience with Pleo and as for the eventual stopping of battery production not to worry about it until we get there
-
Hello and welcome :) Aww you have to wait til Christmas, oh gosh I couldn't stand it :P
Pleo's will be around for a few more years to come according to innvo labs so I wouldn't be worried just yet :)
-
Thanks guys!
It will sure be tough waiting, but boy will Christmas morning be amazing!
I had this strange theory that I needed to stock up on battery packs now so my pleo won't ever run out. :P How many spare battery packs do you think I will need to get for now?
-
Most of us have the original battery and one spare per Pleo :)

Hello and bonjour! Ca va bien? I'm not sure where rainbow country is.
But if you give me a hint I'll figure where somewhere over it is! >:D
I'm a fellow Canuck just outside Ottawa. Welcome to the best boards anywhere. :)
Your going to love your Pleo. Not to worry about the battery. ;)
Read the posts under "PLEO News" for INNVO Labs and Jetta. :)
They're taking over the Pleo project and have positive plans for the next 3-5 years. ;D

ps. Oh if you haven't bought your Pleo yet check around there are some awesome discounts out there.
We can maybe point you to the safer sites / stores! ;)

Somewhere over the rainbow is where bluebirds fly ;)
We haven't orderd a pleo yet but I think we are leaning towards amazon but it says that Amazon doesn't ship outside of the U.S :(
Here is a link of lots of different sites that are selling pleos:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000RWEGCO/sr=/qid=/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=&sr=&seller=&colid=&condition=new
Which one would you suggest? Is there anywhere besides ebay that you can get battery packs?
I read the Pleo news and it doesn't seem to me like they are changing that much, only improving on some small details and strengthing pleos overall. :)

Welcome Pickleish, What a cute user name. Pleo will most likely be the best Christmas present that you ever had. Just make sure the battery is out of the box so you can have your new pleo up and running on Christmas day. A spare battery really is nice to have. More time to play with your little dino. ;)

Bonjour! Always glad to see the new faces! Be sure to take lots of Pleo pics and add them to our gallery!

Check the dealers star ratings, look at the ones with high ratings and lots of sales and email them to ask about warranties/returns make sure you get someone with a no fuss return policy, just in case.
I'd wait a little while before getting a battery, you should be able to get one from Pleoworld in a month or so :)

Hi again;
I would suggest 2 places to buy your first Pleo. Always use Paypal to protect your purchase. ;)
If you want a Canadian supplier "www.robotshop.ca" has the best price I can right now. $211.00.
I buy robots and related stuff from them regularly and they are reliable with reasonable shipping costs. :)
In the states "botabingbotaboom" on eBay has the best combination price and shipping cost. They quoted
$149.99 US plus $33.00 shipping. Thats $182.99US thats about $199.99 Cdn plus duties and taxes. Its about a wash with RobotShop.Ca. You won't have any Customs and Duties hassles buying in Canada. ;)
As far as the battery goes ask if you can do as fancyfont suggests. Charge it prior to opening day. Same goes for one spare is a great idea.Wait and see what Jetta comes up with in the next month or so before buying it. They say a new charger may make all the difference. For me on a medical pension I can't afford a spare but from what I'm hearing it maybe that I can't afford not to have one?? ???

Dadio, It really is so nice to have a spare if you can at all afford one. It just makes the time playing with our pleos so much longer, therefore better. ;)
-
Thank you, I'm ordering mine from Robotshop.ca ;D
Thats a good idea about charging before Christmas. I know this is a stupid question but does it matter if I charge the battery months before I use it in a pleo?
Also, I read something today that said pleos will stay asleep for hours until disturbed, then they will wake up ready for more play. But I thought that they only lasted one hour after charging? ???
I'm going to wait on getting a new battery. It doesn't make any sense to get one now when Jetta is coming up with an ever better one. Thanks you got me just in time!
-
The batteries do run down even without using them. It's best to charge it before use. They don't always stay asleep when left on. Only if the battery needs recharging. :)

Pickelish;
:)
You need to charge just a day before no more. ;)
