I gave our Pleo Andy, who's been with us under a week yet, an upgrade to 1.1 last night when I realized that he wasn't already running it (he didn't seem to recognize the leaf, didn't sing different things when you caressed his jaw). It took him a couple minutes after the upgrade to start being active again, which didn't concern me. What does concern me: he hasn't walked since then. He's taken a step back periodically, or a step forward, but he's never walked.
Should I be worried yet? He's sat, gotten sick, gotten better, eaten, been sad when I neglected him (I wanted to see if he'd walk); Basically, he's otherwise behaving like he's fine.

try touching and holding the sensors on the two front legs for about three seconds. This should switch him to "adventure mode" where he will walk around. WARNING!!! The moment you start petting him, he'll revert back to "social mode" and stand there wanting to be petted!! ;) Other than that it will just take time and a bit of neglect to get him to explore on his own . . .

I got him to walk again a few hours ago. The problem did seem to be that I was simply unwilling to neglect him enough. Doh!
Thanks.

How many dogs have you met that will wander off while your petting them? . . . or people for that matter! ;)

glad you got your pleo walking around again shadow :) i know how you feel about not wanting to leave them alone enough for them to want to wander around!
I had no idea there were different modes for pleos! Is it just adventure and social or do they have even more?

Well, I was willing to give him 30-45 seconds to wander off, more pets are at least that frenetic!

Pleo is capable of all sorts. And different degrees or levels of these modes. But Ugobe typically categorized the various behaviors into these to broad general modes. "Social" refers to all the "attention seeking" behaviors where pleo is interacting (socializing) with people. This would include the singing, petting, tug-of-war, sleeping, cuddling types of behavior. For these, pleo just stands there. The opposite, when pleo is actively moving is referred to as being adventurous or "exploring". This includes the typical behaviors that do not involve interaction with people: eating, grazing, walking around, pushing things, etc. But there are also specialized mode like the Watchdog mode.
