Title: Skin tear
Post by: batonrune on June 15, 2009, 02:42:31 PM
Well I'm disapointed to say that my pleo, as yet unnamed, already is experiencing small tears on the back. I've read the other skin thread about using Gibbs oil to keep the skin moistened but I've yet to read anyone who's attempted to use liquid latex or other liquid rubbers to repair these tears or possibly even to correct some of the color loss. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this idea.

Hi Batonrune

Are you talking about tears or wear? If it is the paint peeling then that is normal, however if you are experiencing actual tearing of the skin to the point where you can see through the skin then you may have a problem and need to return your Pleo. Please be extra careful if you are going to try liquid rubbers/latex, the reason  no one here has tried them is because they are likely to cause far more damage than they fix. Pleo's skin in a custom made rubber without latex and could be sensitive to rubber cement and the like.

Actual tear. I bought it through Amazon.com, with Ugobe out of business are waranties being honored? I didn't even bother to register. Thanks for the input on the latex.

Amazon should take your Pleo back, no problems. Keep in mind, your situation is somewhat uncommon.

Believe me, I would know.  I have sent back things to Amazon countless times, and you even get complimentary shipping ;)
