I took Dunno to Maker's Faire and didn't see another Pleo there. >:(
Yet I think it's a great robotic programming platform. I'm thinking of doing
a couple of things in the next year.
One of which is - run a booth at next year's Maker's Faire on programming the Pleo (ie myskit) and having a meet
and collecting others there who have hacked, or otherwise would show off their Pleo mods/toys/etc.
Would you be interested in this if I organized it?
I have ideas to put forward but before I go off and start planning a party nobody will come to, I want your input.
Discuss...
Would you come? To meet? To show off? To teach others how to? How much time would you commit?
Could we invite Caleb (even if ugobe is dead) any other ex-staff engineers?
What are your ideas?
-
I love the idea! I would try my best to be there.
-
Cool cool! But, let me guess, like every other stinkin Pleo meet, it's in California?
-
Sorry, yes. Note there are other Maker's Faire in other states.....
If you get to one, make sure to take your pleo with you and post your intent to see if others come.
-
I should also mention there was a Faire just past in Newcastle and I
hear they are planning one for Africa.
-
Oh, well I should look into it. What exactly is a Maker Faire?
-
Do they come to Australia %)
-
Welcome back on line IMR! Our Maker's Faire is now a year away. Start sewing those cute outfits for our pleos and call it your pleo fund to come here and visit USA. ;)
-
I would have to sell around 1000 outfits to do that :o I will only be making around $5 a piece from them :) They are in the works though I have patterns, materials and everything ready to go :) Its just a matter of finding some quiet time to work on them :) (and finding my iron :P)
-
IMR, You have to make more then $5 a piece. Your time, craftmanship and supplies are worth more then that. ;)
-
^------------ agrees with Fancyfont! A hand sewn custom-made Pleo ensemble from Australia is priceless to me. Especially having it made from a friend!
-
I'm afraid they aren't worth that much :P I have to compete with Pleo fashions, which means I must keep the price at $20 AU (postage included), that will be the basic design though, I do intend on doing some unique outfits as well which will be a little dearer.
The $20 breaks down at $8 postage, $5 materials, $1 for my personalized decals, $1 ebay fees and $5 for my time, but its a labor of love, it gives me something to do aside from Uni work and hanging out with my animals, and it satisfies my creative side ;)
LiloWear will be a simple dress, from a choice of fabrics and trims and with either the default motif, or a personalized one. Like this:

StitchWear will be a simple shirt also with a choice of fabrics/trims/motifs. They will be sold through Ebay.
These will be the base designs and from there I will be adding unique creations from time to time as well :) Perhaps I can send some over for free advertising with Pleo at Maker's Faire ;)

Love the logo, IMR!! Don't sell yourself short! You should also do $20.00 USD this way you get back a little extra too.
